image Burner King did an oil to gas conversion for us, installing a new gas boiler. Our radiators weren't working after and it was starting to get cold! Brian, one of the managers, came himself to look at what was wrong with our setup, fixed the whole issue in less than an hour, and explained everything! Thank God for heat and Burner King!

image We are in the process of selling our home. Our buyer was performing the final walk through & smelled a odor of oil in the basement and wanted to postpone the closing. We quickly contacted Burner King on 12/29/2020, whom was referred to us, but we had never used. We told them of our concern and expressed the urgency in case there was an issue. They had their service Manager Brian go out same day to inspect the smell. We have already moved so our neighbor was there to let the tech in. Upon entering, the area was inspected and a nozzle was replaced. The actual writing on the receipt, states: Replaced Nozzle .85-885 CIA Electrodes Adjust fire - all ok Chimney has stainless steel chimney liner - all ok Oil Tank - All ok We forwarded the receipt over to our lawyers so that we could proceed with closing. Unfortunately our initial buyer backed out. We are under contract again and the new buyer had a home inspection completed on 2/8/2021. Upon inspection the inspector found that the whole underside of the oil tank was porous and leaking. The matter had become urgent as we were advised that the tank could go at any moment. Obviously extremely ditraught with what we could potentially face, our 3/4 filled oil tank bursting open, riddling our basement and foundation with an environmental hazard and putting us at extreme risk of both an environmental issue and a huge expense. I contacted Burner King immediately to ask them to explain what could happen in less than 2 months to cause a, what Burner King stated as an fully functioning oil tank with no issues, to something of extreme danger and hazard. I was told that they didn't see how the error could be made as the service manager was onsite, but of course they would send someone immediately to review the site. I was also told that if the oil tank did need to be replaced, I would receive a credit on my first bill and $500 towards a new oil tank. I was told they would send the same person back the next day. We drove in from CT (our new place of residence) to meet them and had to contact Burner multiple times to see if they were coming to our home as promised. They finally showed up at 5pm. It was not the person they said they would send but another technician. Immediately that technician saw the issue and said the tank needed to be overnighted and replaced immediately. We asked how this could have happened and he said it would have shown it when the original tech came. He did not know why the valve would have been replaced when it should have been the whole tank. Next day I called after we put a 1K deposit down to confirm the time and tell them that I needed the rest of the money put on another card. They said they would call after the work was performed. We waiting again calling over and over to have someone finally show up at 5pm and not be aware of what exactly they were walking into. Needless to say, the tank was replaced and we were immediately charged to the same account the deposit was on, which happened to be our saving. Because they did not call me for the charges as stated, they cleaned out our savings instead of allowing us to choose our payment. I contacted the office and asked and also asked about the credit in which they claimed they could not provide because they provided service on the tank. I was livid. I wanted the credit promised. They ended up crediting us around $130 for the initial visit which is insulting since the ask was to inspect the odor. They claimed they performed an annual maintenance on the unit and could not credit the whole bill. I explained I did not ask for the annual maintenance and after checking with the service manager they refused to credit me anymore. We felt bullied and trapped. They took our money and we could not get it back. They put us at risk not only environmentally but within our home as well. This company should be put out of business. An oil spill of 260 gallons in a basement of a home is hundred's of thousands of dollars to remediate. At this point I will be reporting to the BBB and depending on the response, pursuing a law suit.
