Seriously WTH with the payment system?!! You have to pay with a check AND postage every time, OR, PAY A FEE on electronic payment?! You CAN pay with bank account info online but you cannot use that for autopay because for some reason to activate bank acc autopay you have to send a voided check?! Even RGE accepts CREDIT CARD payment WIHTOUT fees! How come this is "normal"?

The autopay system requires you to mail a voided check along with a form. The form states: "For your security, Automatic Bill Payment cannot be set up electronically." That is, of course, completely ridiculous. No other organization that I have interacted with has this requirement on setting up auto pay. I don't think I have a checkbook with my current address on it, and I don't really want to go buy one just to set up autopay for my water bill. But maybe I should have, because I missed the payment and got charged a fee. Very annoying, as every other reoccurring bill I have set on autopay. But the water does come out of the faucet! So 3 stars for you. Update your payment policy. EDIT - I accidently missed another payment and got charged a late fee. Despite the response below, there has been no change to the payment policy yet. Minus 1 star!

I live on Van Voorhis Rd in Pittsford and the MCWA started replacing our water lines in late April or early May and our just finishing up (10/21/23). About 3 weeks they graded the front yards and seeded the lawns. The grass was coming in nicely only to have one of their trucks (10/16/24), actually the contractors, drive across the newly graded and seeded area and tear it up. I find it a strange way of doing business? Owell! Thanks for listening!

Four water main breaks THIS SUMMER on a street with maybe 25 houses. Neighbors say there's been a break just about every year for the past seven. Time to replace the line!

Hi Ihab - We are in the process of exploring updated electronic autopay options. Stay tuned. As for the credit card fee, the third-party payment processor we use charges the convenience fee. As a not-for-profit organization, we have elected to pass the fee along to the customers who use the service rather than absorbing the fees and building the charges into our rates.

Hi Cece – we apologize for the inconvenience. We know the value of water and do everything we can to keep it flowing to our customers. MCWA tracks all breaks and repairs to note frequency and identify trends. There are many factors taken into consideration when water mains fail, such as what caused the failure and the location of the main. These factors are analyzed and repair or replacement is considered as warranted. We are aware of the frequency of breaks on your street and will continue to monitor the data to perform repairs or plan for replacement as necessary.
