(Full Disclosure: I am married to the owner...but I wasn't when I first started taking lessons at DancEncounters!)
DancEncounters is a unique venue for dance in Rochester, NY. The owner (Barbara Warren) has always adhered to a "community" business model, rather than a "profit at any cost" mindset.
Dance lessons are stupid cheap (generally less than the cost of a movie matinee), studio rental fees are so low as to defy logic (I know; I've seen the books!), but most importantly...
...the quality of instruction is first rate.
Do not expect chandeliers or pretense, but if you come to DancEncounters, you will be welcome, you won't be broke, you will have a good time...
...and you will dance better than you ever thought possible!

This is a marvelous studio! Barbara taught me everything I know about Argentine Tango and the community is always welcoming. Come dance!

We had a total of four private lessons; two for the groom and bride, one for the groom and his mother, and a forth, split lesson. My son had to learn two different routines and he did a wonderful job. Our instructor was creative and added special moves that made us look like professionals. Our dances at the reception were perfect and many people asked us where we had our lessons. I highly recommend DancEncounters.

DancEncounters has always been there for me since I started dancing in Rochester in 2004. I've had lessons in ballroom dancing, salsa, westcoast swing, and my favorite Argentine Tango. It's a great place to experience dance for the first time without signing expensive contracts. Barbara Warren, owner/manager, has been a solid bedrock for the dance community for ages, accepting of dancers in all socioeconomic, age and educational backgrounds. We are all of one passion -- dance!
