Updated: Below is a review written quite some time ago. My husband and I went here last night to celebrate Port Jeff''s Dickens Festival, sadly the service has seriously diminished. Servers are now one per table which results in a slow refill of drinks, plates left on the table for way too long (entree brought out before our salad plates were even taken away), and a sense of change, in a poor way. Aside from the lobster bisque which was a dreadful brown color and lacked everything in taste, aside from salt, the food remains to be amazing. Butter for your bread is frozen and when it was brought to the attention of one of the table runners, it was met with an understanding however no initiative was taken to rectify the problem. Our server tried his best to accommodate us, however with the mastermind of the new "I worked in Midtown Manhattan manager" to downsize to one server per table but yet still give them numerous tables, quality will lack.
After dinner, we did bring our complaints to the attention of the veteran hostess who efficiently called over the manager who promptly notified us that he worked in restaurants in Midtown Manhattan and "this will work, it's just the first weekend of the roll out". Which leads me to this question - being a manager for a "restaurant in Midtown - where is the common sense to NOT roll out new changes on what is probably your busiest weekend of the year?? A quick apology was given to us to push out the door so new customers would not hear what is lacking.
I am truly saddened by the downhill crumble this restaurant is taking. My husband and I had our first date here and felt this was some place we would go for years to come, however if the attitude and new changes implemented by new management do not change, I am not sure if anyone will be able to go to this restaurant in the future. You cannot charge high quality prices and not assume your clients are going to want high quality service in return,
Fiance & I have been going here for about 4 years. It is "our place". The food always amazes us and we have always received quality service. Never waited, even without reservations. Whether our not it is on the menu, they always serve me stuffed shrimp. Desserts, when we can fit them, are delicious as well! Def try this place out!

We visited you for dinner last Saturday night (7/20/2013). Our party of four arrived
late (about 8:30) just as a group of 10 diners was leaving. We had no
reservation and the hostess told us it would be just a few minutes to set
the table, her implication being all the other tables were full. She
suggested we go to the bar for a quick drink. After a considerable wait, we
approached her again. She said she was sorry, she had FORGOTTEN about us
because she was busy. Once we were seated we realized only a handful of
tables were occupied. There were plenty of empty tables, we could and should
have been seated immediately. What a turn off!

Extremely disappointed. Ordered the Filet black and bleu. They forgot the "black" part. I figured that chefs at an expensive steakhouse new how to cook steaks. I was wrong. The Wedge salad was swimming in blue cheese dressing. Ordered a side dish of asparagus and found it to be bitter to the point of being uneatable. Not ever going back.

I just can't get over the tastes of the steaks at Paces. Their delicious menus are perfectly prepared and I absolutely adore them. I must mention that you get the best service with personal attention paid to every customer who walks into Paces and that is one of the reasons I visit there the most.
