Brought in some vintage lenses from eBay for general restoration. I had found this place on Google and was impressed with the reviews. Customer service is important me. Jay was a pleasure to speak with and he carefully assessed the gear. He and Ronald ended up doing a fantastic job with the work. Highly recommend.

I have a Sony A9, which had a loose hot-shoe (a recalled part by the manufacturer that was past the recall date). So I gave Sony a call to see if they would do anything, and they referred me to a preferred vender, who had very poor reviews, and I was quoted an unreasonable price relative to the value of the camera.... so I decided to look elsewhere. I saw the outstanding ratings online of Specialty Photographic Repair Services and thought I'd give them a call. Jay picked up the phone and I knew instantly I was in good hands. He was a consummate professional (gave an accurate diagnostic of the issue, fixed the issue in a timely manner, and his prices were very fair and much lower than the quote I received from Sony and their preferred vender). You can tell that he has pride in his work and wants to give value to his customers. As evidence of this please keep reading. During his diagnostic he found an issue with the viewfinder, which I told him I was aware of and was fine with how it operated even though it did not function as the manufacturer intended. So to my surprise (or maybe I shouldn't have been surprised) when I got my camera back... the viewfinder was magically now working perfectly... Thanks Jay!

As usual, I brought my "vintage Ebay" lens to "Dr Jay" and he fixed it so that I can use it on my professional filmmaking projects. This time it was an old Minolta Rokkor 35mm f/2.8 with many issues, including it wouldn't focus properly (among other things), but the colors and the bokeh are amazing, so for me, it was worth getting it up to working standards, and now I have a lens that can keep up with my workflow while maintaining it's unique vintage quality and character. AND my sensor is clean like brand new on my Panasonic S5, so... I highly recommend Specialty and personally, I'd never go anywhere else. Always a great experience, Jay is trustworthy, reasonably priced, and most importantly, you will always walk away with your gear working just as it should, and you'll probably learn a lot in the process. Well worth the visit, for sure.
