I lived at a place in Olean for like 2 months. Was month to month. *When I moved out they charged me a $400 “cleaning fee”, even after I scrubbed floors, kitchen and cleared everything out. (Have move out pics for proof) *They also charged me $90 for a broken blind in a Bedroom I never even used that was broken it looked like for years. Just make sure to send them a full list of everything wrong with the apartment as soon as you move in so they won’t get you for things you didn’t do. *My lease was month to month. My job transferred me unexpectedly to another city and I let them know around July 9th. My rent was paid up until August 1. So I let them know July 9th (30 day clause) and I return keys around 19th, again because I’m paid through 8/1. They then ignore questions about my $800 deposit for weeks after the 9th giving zero info and I…. Then got a bill from them in end of July for $1200 dollars. Cleaning fee, blinds, and yes the ENTIRE month of August ($800). Not pro rated to 8/9 but the entire month. They said that’s legal because my 30 day notice wasn’t on July 1, which makes zero sense. What if someone moved in 8/1? 30 days from July 9 isn’t August 31, it’s August 9. Anyway they’re another real estate company that knows they can do whatever they want because it’ll cost more to sue them. Just be careful and document EVERYTHING, or they too will keep your entire deposit and charge you for “cleaning”.
