We have been with this program for 4 seasons now and 2 of my kids have gone through the program. It's sad to see that some of the people have had bad experiences. I've seen what the reviews are speaking of but I have not had a bad experience that I could blame the program on. If you want to make a difference in your kids local program then get involved and be part of it. It really makes a difference. You can help change bad experiences into not happening again. Many changes have happened. After Coach Nick was let go a new group of coaches came in and they were very focused on getting these kids to be winners and my son had a great experience with them! The level of skill went up tremendously and they started winning more games. Oceanside Club is a feeder program into El Camino HS and they are CIF. This program is important to the local families and community. Things happen in leagues all the time but don't discount the program for a few things that have gone down. This year the program was taken over by a new panel of parents and coaches, there are many positive changes happening. Try it out for yourselves before taking the judgements of past reviews as your answer. If your a local Oceanside family, get involved and support the program. This is YOUR community and its for YOUR kids! It's cool that we can participate and our ideas will be heard. They are welcoming all our ideas for improvement and for us to all have a great experience. It's all to benefit your own kids. I personally have had a good experience with my two kids and they have benefited a lot from the program. Running a sports program is not easy and with your involvement it will only get better. Our ideas and input matter so get involved and make a difference in your community and your kids program. Go Oceanside LAX kids!!

Only my first year in the league and have found it a perfect fit for my son. We have had a wonderful experience and love Coach Jerry. He instills a love of the game and really gets to know his players. I have only had interaction with mainly one board member and found her amazing. The fact that they give all they can to the league as a volunteer is outstanding. I feel they want to grow and did not experience any of the reviews from last year.

There are amazing kids here and some great coaches! Having boys who have played for a few years, and in a league across the country, that was truly run wonderfully and like a big family, I can say this was SO disappointing. Upon discovering the outright cheating and disgusting verbal language happening at the D3 level by the coach there, and confronting him and then later discussing it with the board, to see if it would be addressed and handled properly, they didn’t. It was all excuses. It’s clear integrity isn’t important, just the idea of what they perceive as a decent win-loss record. Coaching is a gift, and a responsibility. It should be handled as such. You should be instructing the players in a way they can win with real pride, or it isn’t a win. An entire organization getting behind a coach who they know has been doing this for many years is sad, and far from the history and culture of Lacrosse. This is a youth league. It’s supposed to be about the kids! With paid coaches, even one who is a bad seed, poisons the entire tree. What he teaches continues on in those kids behavior. I hope someday someone can step in that truly has the best interest of the kids at heart, and is willing to take chances to actually grow the program positively for the community as a whole. It is stuck in a cycle of poor management and bad coaching at that important transition age. Go elsewhere! San Marcos, Fallbrook, Carlsbad.

I see the comments here and agree that the club could be more. Two areas that could improve begin with promptly holding the coaches accountable in order to circumvent bad practices (Read: Coach Nick should have been reprimanded and canned much earlier than he was circa 2016). Anticipating friction and being more forward leaning on matching quality personnel to key functions would eliminate some of the negativity experienced by the other reviewers. Cast a wide net to attract coaches rather than relying on the limited parent network to pursue an apt trainer. There have been instances where micromanagement is counterproductive to the overall aim but that is a personality trait that requires deep reflection before achieving a management balance. That all said, we have been a part of this organization for four years engaging both my boys. They are separated by grade levels such that they constantly remain offset in divisions; never the same coach simultaneously. Aside of d-bag Nick, our experience is very positive. My oldest son went from no experience to [my own biased evaluation considering him as a] pro in the last four years. The younger has shown exponential growth and the runt of the family is almost old enough to begin his stint pursuing lacrosse stardom in Oceanside LAX! After a couple of seasons in 395, it is clear that Oside LAX Club gives you the most bang for your buck. 2-4 practices a week and games almost weekly for nearly four months. Elite organizations cannot shake a stick at that and the standard we've experienced with Oside LAX has me increasingly critical of the monetarily driven product the 395 program and Adrenaline LAX has become overall. The coaches of Oside LAX Club are paid but it still takes a volunteer to train these boys. It is incumbent on the player to reach a higher level of talent by spending off-field time playing wall-ball. True professionalism in lacrosse displayed on the field indicates the dedication the player has off. The club should not be crucified here, simply guided to a better tomorrow. Without Oside Lacrosse Club, your kids don't have this opportunity to play.
