image Vino-Versity is not simply a wine store. It is where you go to buy wine, learn about wine, drink wine, share wine, and drink wine (oh, did I say that already?). Shari Schneider, The "Dean" of Vino-Versity has created a environment like no other. From the moment you step inside, you are put at ease, non of this pretentious stuff. The store is arranged by grape and price, so right off the bat, you are directed to where your taste buds (and wallet) will be the happiest. Shari's main goal is to get you to taste and understand every wine region on the planet and have fun doing it. The 5 classes on rotation are all amazing (I am partial to the bubbles class) and the tasting events like "Destination" give everyone the opportunity to taste around the globe and make new friends at the same time. The staff there are all incredibly knowledgeable but never pushy. If you have never been to Vino-Versity, I can pretty much guarantee you have not been in a store like it before. It is worth the trip. Their website is chocked full of information and a calendar of classes and events. Oh, and dogs are welcomed (and encouraged to come on in!).

image I am a huge fan of Vino-Versity! They offer a very nice variety of wines that can accommodate any budget. I have never been mislead on a recommendation, and have also discovered some new favorites with the help of their friendly staff. I have also attended a wine tasting event in store with a group of friends that was very well run and we had a great time!

image I LOVE this store! The first thing you notice walking into Vino-Versity is the warmth of the store. You feel like you are walking into a tasting room. Next you notice the tasting notes that the owner personally writes for each and every bottle in the store! I have never seen that anywhere. Plus the tasting notes are color-coded so you can aim for those bottles in your price-range, and then select new wines based on the notes. Honestly, you feel like a connoisseur in here. Love it, love it, love it. Also, it has a "secret room" downstairs for liquors which is simply beautiful. Highly recommend this wine store in the Upper East Side.
Also, I live on the West Side and go to their tasting events. Forgot to mention that. They have tasting events every week I think, and wine classes. Their wine classes are also the best I have personally ever taken. I've taken other ones all over the city, but the difference is I actually learn at the Vino-Versity classes. They provide literature, the instructors (especially Shari, the owner, who calls herself a highly trained alcohol professional LOL!) are knowledgeable, plus you have fun. When Shari teaches, it's like a beer tasting class but for wine. You are laughing the entire time. Shari, if you ever read this, you could be a stand-up comedian.

image This is one of my favorite wine stores in the UES. The whole concept of the store is to make wine accessible to everyone - hence the name Vino-Versity. Expect great customer service and a well-informed staff that is willing to share their knowledge and help you find what you want and need, and work with your budget. Vino-Versity also hosts great events to and is a wonderful space to host an event of your own.
So yes, come visit Vino-Versity on the UES, you won't be disappointed!
