Competitive Edge Tutoring: NYC Tutoring

We had an outstanding experience with Competitive Edge Tutoring working with our daughter for her college standardized tests. A friend recommended CET to us and to be honest we werent sure what to expect, as finding a good tutoring service can be hit and miss and in the past we had used other tutoring companies without much improvement. But in an initial phone call with owner Alex, he showed an intricate knowledge of the SAT and ACT and the way they are scored, and laid out a course of action for the next few months. We talked about my daughters goals and personality so he could match her up with the most suitable tutor, which no other service had done. After mock tests, he recommended that she focus on the ACT as opposed to the SAT, which turned out to be the right call. My daughters tutor Torrin Hallett was fantastic. Their Zoom sessions were a mix of filling in gaps in subject knowledge and making sure she understood test-taking strategy. After working with Torrin for several weeks, she ended up with scores in the 99th percentile for both the SAT and ACT. She did particularly well in the ACT, which went up significantly. In the end, it comes down to how hard the student is willing to work, the knowledge of the tutor and the chemistry between them, but I can say that Torrin brought out the best in our daughter. Although a good test score alone wont get anyone into college, now we know that her score wont keep her out. We are now working with another tutor at CET on application essays. I can highly recommend CET and its tutors.

Thanks to Competitive Edge Tutoring, my son significantly increased his math score on the SSAT and other high school admissions tests. The math tutoring also helped his transition to accelerated math. The tutor was very reliable and competent. I definitely highly recommend CET!

Eli Amzallag is an amazing tutor who has truly helped my son succeed this past academic year. Not only is Eli a tremendous teacher, but he is also a great role model who inspires my son to be his best. It was Incredible working with Alice & Competitive Edge! Highly Recommend both 110% Alice helped prepare our son with the undergraduate admissions process. We used Competitive Edge tutoring for both our daughters' ACTs and SAT 2s. We had previously worked with a different agency but found their tutors abilities inconsistent. With Competitive Edge, we found Alex was very responsive and supportive in all of our dealings and his tutors were consistently strong, had good materials to share, and always added value. The tutors sent us detailed summaries of the sessions, the areas needing work, and the next steps immediately after every session to help keep us in the loop. Megan helped my younger daughter for both the ACT and Spanish SAT 2 and we found her help invaluable. We even recommended her to other family members. My older daughter used Liz and Dimitri for the ACT and Willis for Spanish. Working with Competitive Edge my daughter's score rose from a 28 on the pre ACT (scale is 1 - 35) to a 35 on the actual ACT (scale is 1 - 36).
