Short version: sold me a pair of defective earrings and wouldn't take them back Details: They sold me a pair of gold hoop earring that I bought as a gift for our babysitter. When I gave them to her, she pointed out that there was a hole in the bottom of the hoop that I didn't see. Really, really embarrassing. I live in Brooklyn, an hour away from the store and only go to that neighborhood to see a doctor. So I went out and bought my babysitter another pair of earrings for $100 near where I live. I called the store, told them the situation and they said it would be fine to bring them back the next month, when I was back in the area. When I went back, I showed them hole. No apology. They had said originally that the earrings were $80. I bought them together with a bracelet that originally was priced at $110. We bargained so that I got both for $160. (I also bought 2 pairs of knee socks, for a total of $200) So when I went back, instead of apologizing and giving me the $80 back as a good faith gesture, he only agreed to give me $60 back. It should have been at least $65, but fine. Then they asked if I would consider trying to find something in the store for $60 instead of giving me cash. I wanted to be nice, so I looked around and tried on a few pairs of boots. I saw a pair for $69 I thought might be ok and the owner said I could have them for $60 if I wanted. While I was trying on the boots, the owner and his wife left (without telling me). I finally settled on a pair of $50 boots that I didn't love but thought were ok, and when I asked the salesperson if I could use the rest for a $19 pair of knee socks she said no (despite the owner having already approved something else for a total of $69). I could have a pair of calf-high $15 socks, but $19 was just too much. I don't like calf-high socks. Still no apology or acknowledgment that they really screwed me over. I was pretty annoyed and didn't really want the boots, and certainly not the short socks so I said, just give me the $60 cash. The saleswoman said no. She didn't have the authority and she couldn't call the owner and he was gone for the day. Why don't I take the (defective) earrings back and return the next day? So now I have a pair of so-so rain boots and a pair of socks I don't want, and they have my money. Don't shop there unless you're sure they're not selling you damaged goods. I see that I'm the fourth person to give them a bad review and the second to report being sold defective goods. I suspect they'll put the hoops back on the shelf and deceive someone else. Don't let it be you.
