Arc En Ciel

It's our second year in this school. The first one was great but the second year has been very different. High teachers turnover, management only present 2 days a week because focusing on other school openings, almost all activities include additional fees even with an expensive annual tuition. Like last year, school opens late (8:30) so you have to find somebody to drop off your children. In a nutshell, needs improvement in a few areas.

I have known the director of this school , Vanessa, since my son was six months old (5/2014h) and started sending him to her daycare in Harlem Petits Poussins.  I was very happy with my experience there as was my son, that I decided to follow her to the upper east side.  I was thrilled that she took over this preschool.  Vanessa is very warm, down to earth and so accessible and responsive to all my concerns.  She would even send me texts with photos if my son was a little clingy in the beginning at drop off.  Vanessa took my son when he turned two years old and since then my sons love of French songs and of learning skyrocketed.  His grandparents are very impressed with his French, as are others when we visit France particularly since only one parent speaks French at home.  Vanessa also surrounds herself with good people, I am comfortable with all of the teachers and staff that she has working for her.  Vanessa has many teachers and helpers working that are bilingual especially for the younger twos.  The small class ratios definitely helped.  My son is happy at drop off and pick up and sings songs from school at home.  I can't wait for my second child, a newborn, to be two years old so I can send her to arc en ciel as well!

It was very important to us that our daughter attends a bilingual preschool and she's had a great first school experience at Arc en Ciel. The school is very welcoming, the teachers are warm and attentive and it shows when your child is happy to go to school!  The space is small, this is not a big school, but the layout is well organized and we found the activities to be well thought out. Our daughter has been attending since September. In just a few months her progress in both French and English has been impressive and she's been well prepared to attend LFNY in the fall. We also appreciate the fact that the teachers and head of the school are accessible and easy to talk to. Arc en ciel has weekly themes and we receive a daily emails on activities and projects.

We are extremely happy with Arc En Ciel and cannot recommend it enough to other parents.  We have been sending our children here since it opened.  The Vanessa and all of the teachers are wonderful and my children are speaking fluently in both French and English.  Arc En Ciel did a great job of preparing my daughter for the LFNY.  Not only are we happy with Arc En Ciel, and perhaps most importantly, our children love the school and their teachers.  They are always excited to go to school and before vacations are over they are asking "when can we go back to school?".

The entrance to Arc en Ciel looks like a regular store front. But once I entered, I saw that there was a lot more. There are classrooms with small children and teachers. The atmosphere is calm and the children are supported by caring adults as they engage in age-appropriate activities. It was refreshing to hear both French and English spoken by all. It is a pleasure to see a child centered environment where there are multiple entry points for children as they learn and develop at their own pace.
