Tasty and cheap. It's more of a take-out place so don't expect a romantic setting.

Amazing Mexican food with a few tables at the back of a deli; not at all fancy and super cheap. We had a delicious chicken salad and chicken/lamb tacos. Excellent guacamole too. Awesome choice if you're out in the neighbourhood and want something cheap and tasty!

Coming from California, finding a solid burrito has always been the elusive quest in the concrete jungle. Time and time again, I've been disappointed with the mediocracy of taquerias found in Manhattan. However, Guelaguetza is able to at least hold me over until my next trip back to the west coast. To say that this place is a hole in a wall is an understatement. Hidden between 10th and 11th ave on 47th Street is where you'll find this Hell's Kitchen taqueria. Half grocery store, half taqueria, Guelaguetza is a man of all trades. Both times that I've come here, I've opted to go with their burritos. At $7 each, the price is just about as expected. Either order up from with the man at the register, or with the folks working in the kitchen, and you're pretty much good to go. For those who do want to dine in, luckily this place does have 3 tables that seats about 8-10 in total. Within 5 minutes, my grilled chicken burrito was ready. Loaded with sour cream, guacamole, rice and meat, this is exactly what I was looking for. As far as quality and quantity, this is a smaller burrito that I typically get. There was enough meat, but I did with that it did have a little more flavor from the marinade. For entertainment, there's even a TV here, but it's turned on to the channel in which the children here wish. All in all Guelaguetza is definitely one of the better burritos that I've had in the city. Far from the land of taquerias, I know I can't be overly picky, but it still doesn't come close to what I love back in California. Nonetheless, the food here is decent, and the service is quick and easy.

Total hole in the wall grocery store that serves great mexican food. You have to walk halfway down 47th between 9 and 10ave to get to it. Very narrow small grocery store with a couple small tables to eat at...you are actually better off just walking to the park across the street to eat. Tacos here are pretty good, maybe not the greatest compared to some other joints around the area but my personal favorite are the nachos for $6. Tons of nacho with guac, sour cream, your choice of meat etc...you be stuffed!
