Named after a section of Rabbi Jacob ben Asher's compilation of Halakha Arba'ah Turim. Orach Chayim means "way of life." This beautiful synagogue was founded in 1879 and is led by Rabbi Benjamin Skydell, shlit"a. Photos can be seen in the book, "Ten Times Chai: 180 Orthodox Synagogues of New York City." 1

Witness modern Orthodoxy at its best : intelligent sermon s, knowledgeable congregation, welcoming to strangers, friendly to children... Perfect ? No. The children make noise, the speakers can not be heard well - rabbi excepted , and the new heightened security system frightens as well as preserves.

Friendly place from the congregants to the security staff. I'm often off schedule and they allow me access to pray by myself in the sanctuary. 2 min Daily halacha after shacharis. Recently refurbished bathrooms, floors, etc.
