Great food, horrible service. I was there on groupon deal (entree and a bottle of wine for 55 for two people) and this girl was very rude after we tell her that we're on a coupon. We didn't even see her after placing an order, no one comes by to pour wine or to greet food. We got the Chinese buffet restaurant quality service, so left Chinese buffet restaurant tips.

The atmosphere of Vareli was very nice. It is an perfect date spot. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was not all that great however (I had the lamb burger and my date had the fish). One thing that I did like was that the bottles of wine were 1/2 off during happy hour which was nice. I also like that they have Open Table reservations for a points.

I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Food: Excellent! Have the Seared Scallops. It has a unique almond sauce that is a brilliant mix with the scallops. Drinks: Excellent. Great wine selection. Has a nice selection of reds. Space: Very elegant, intimate and modern wine bar/restaurant. The bar is narrow and intimate making it great for mixing and mingling. The restaurant area is also intimate and romantic and has seating on two levels. Great place to bring a date, impress your significant other or get-togethers. Scene: People watching. Romantic. Date night. Pickup scene. Singles scene. Girls night out. Crowd: 30-50s Pick-up scene. Mostly Columbia students, faculty, and locals. Service: Excellent! The staff is very courteous, fun, knowledgeable & professional.

Very noisy, but good food and a sommelier who knows what he's doing. Will definitely go back
