I found a copy of a friends book of poetry. I already love this place, but finding that copy on the shelf really boosted my fondness.

When I stumbled upon this tranquil oasis around 12 years ago I thought I died and went to literary bliss!I am a New Yorker and to have found this peaceful retreat within one of my most places in NYC called Battery Park City, was just serious icing on the cake. The Poets House is a wonderful place to sit, relax and feast your read. You can use this place to quietly meditate with your thoughts and write as well.I highly recommend this paradise because the view of the Hudson River and the surrounding park area is worth the visit!

I attended a weekend master class at Poets House, which was the perfect way to finally get myself to Battery City to visit. The views are amazing, and the library receives beautiful natural light. It was the perfect working environment, and the library is a great resource for poets or poetry lovers. I'll have to come back for an event!

It's a bit out of the way, but the seclusion you feel from it is worth it if you need to concentrate really hard on some work. It is DEAD QUIET here other than background humming noise. No one was making a noise; I felt uncomfortable moving. However, the background noise really lulls one to sleep so be careful! I saw coffee drinkers inside so it's safe to bring that caffeine to fight off the lull. The AC isn't well distributed here; it's warmer closer to the stairs so if you're feeling hot, move on down further. The AC is blasting over the couches in the back. Lots of plugs. Pleasant scenery outside the windows of kids playing on the playground.
