Swing Organic Salon

Riding on the heels of previous reviews, Swing Organic Salon is a no-frills establishment, nestled in a cozy part of the East Village near trendy restaurants and hip cafes. It's perfect for those that view salon experiences as equal parts luxury and investment. Luis is a fair and experienced stylist who uses an exclusive brand of nontoxic, organic dyes for his small business. Unlike Aveda and other "organic" franchises, Luis cares about the impact of the dyes on both his clients and the stylists that regularly handle the chemicals. The salon is well-ventilated and he uses Kevin Murphy products with very little fragrance. I went for the Semi-Swing package ($325 plus tip). You save on the service packages as opposed to choosing a la carte, but you are guaranteed a thorough service for each one (hence the price). Like most millennials following the balayage trend, I do my hair 1x a year (at most 2x) so I make sure my experience has to be an investment instead of a habit. I noticed most of Swing's clients that have commented or that I have met are mature women, but I found that Swing equally perfect for millennials that value quality, safety for both clients and stylists, and a great NYC salon experience all in one. I already booked my next appointment!

I love that this salon is chemical free. I no longer feel anxious about dying my gray hair. Luis does a great job cutting it too. I highly recommend this place.
