It is disgusting how poorly run this place is. It is impossible to get an appointment. They redirect you every time to a website that never has any available appointments without a clue of when to expect next ones to be available. My mother is stuck in the US now and can’t retire bc of this embarrassing place that fails to serve its community. I am still waiting for my email to be responded to.

I have been trying to get an appointment with the Portuguese consulate since February and they keep telling me to do it online even though there have been no available appointments. Their website is also in Portuguese only and archaic. They have been polite in answering my emails but absolutely unhelpful in solving my problem to get a simple appointment. I know there are delays due to the pandemic but this is just very poor service!

What a joke..Can't make an appointment for passport renewal..Also, for non-Portuguese speakers, their website is non-English friendly. The bigger joke is that they've spammed this comment section with 5-star reviews, claiming the staff is somehow professional. Their overall rating should be 0.

Update: 12/09/2021: Shame. I spend another month of daily looking and no appointment to renew my passport yet. This is a joke, they are a disappointment. Update 11/17/2021: I am here and still trying by accessing the website everyday to find an appointment… and still nothing. Just a shame. Way the worst European Union consular experience in New York. My wife has been trying 3 months to get an appointment for her passport and there is never available slots. Their website and whole process has so many bugs and redirections. The embassy replies to emails after a few days but never with any helpful information. It’s a shame and a pity when you compare this service with the services that other EU consulates offer to their citizens. I guess the Consul General is in New York is here just for fun and not for doing his work. I guess we’re lucky to have double citizenships, because if it was for the Portuguese government we wouldn’t be ever able to travel.
