Delightful office staff, knowledgable and through Dr., speedy service. I absolutely recommend this office for your optics needs.

I woke up this Saturday with a severe eye infection, so I went to the LensCrafters where I order my contacts to see if I could see one of the doctors, knowing that urgent care would not have the expertise of an opthalmologist to help me. Despite my condition, they refused to see me because they were 'booked' and those with 'standing appointments will be mad if they have to wait'. In the meantime, I contacted the LensCrafters location at 107th and Broadway. Sight unseen, they said they were booked but always accommodate an emergency. I shared this with the staff at 71st and Broadway, and they said they do not accommodate emergencies. Frustrated, I went directly to the LensCrafters at 107th and Broadway. I waited only a few minutes and was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer and infection, which could result in loss of vision if not treated immediately. I have seen the doctors there twice in 24 hours and will be back tomorrow, as they want to monitor this closely until the infection is gone. I received a message late yesterday from the 71st St location asking me to come in, they didn't know how bad my condition might be, etc. - but by then I was already home with a perscription. I will not be returning to this location. Not sure why policy varies by location but I have to say that those at 107th and Broadway were wonderfully compassionate and thorough, unlike the staff at 71st and Broadway.

In response to all the naysayers and whiners who have had such a horrible, rushed and/or too long a time to have their every whim catered to correctly, I say this: IN THIS TOWN, YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE. You walk in the door with a sour expression and huffing with disgust, and you've set the tempo for the entire duration of your visit to Lenscrafters.
I have had nothing short of EXCELLENT, EXPEDIENT, EXPERIENCED, AND EXPERT service every time I go in...which is a LOT, because I live one block away. Expensive? Yes. It's Manhattan, not Topeka or Des Moines or Fargo. And I am a tough customer, by my own admission. Three times I took back both pair of glasses and had them completely redone until they were perfect. But I went in with a smile and patience and a good book. Ignore the Boo-Hooer's. NOTHING pleases them, I'd bet the farm AND the barn on that fact. They are busy BECAUSE THEY PROVIDE EXCELLENT CARE. In Manhattan, a long line=worth the wait. New Yorker's know this as the fact that it is and always will be. Start with "Hello" and not "I need..."; you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I ordered a pair of frameless oakley glasses and the process of ordering was pretty smooth. Things got worse after actually. Lenscrafter workshop could not mount the lenses without breaking them, so they had to redo it three times. I received my glasses three months after estimate of delivery date, and I had hard time to push lenscrafter to accept to change the starting date of their 90 days warranty from the moment I got the glasses instead of the ordering date (basically I would have had no warranty).
Also lenscrafter changed the lenses to thicker ones because they were unable to build it.
One lens finally cracked after 11 months, and I had to re-order lens, without warrant since Lenscrafter had not proposed the 1 year extra warranty.
I wish there were a bit more competition to Lenscrafter in the Upper West Side (I went to Optyx, their offer is way out of my budget).
