I have been a patient of Dr. Markowitz for several years. When I have a problem she is always able to find time to see me. She is a very caring, kind, patient and extremely knowledgeable doctor and I feel very lucky to be her patient! Her staff is wonderful and her office is beautiful and very calming. Dr. Markowitz and her staff are the best of the best! I traveled from California to NYC just to visit her practice and have her treat my non-melanoma skin cancers. Helen, her office manager, worked with me from the very beginning to help me plan my trip, plan my treatment and greeted me with the biggest smile upon my arrival. I was so well taken care of by her and her staff and was able to have areas treated with her state of the art lasers that would have required extensive MOHS surgery and I am so blessed to have found her and avoided such cumbersome surgeries. Had I gone the traditional route I would have huge scars and the recovery takes months to look or feel like yourself again. Dr. Markowitz diagnosed and treated me in the same day and I was able to walk down Fifth Avenue (with a hat and sunscreen of course!) with my head held high and even grabbed lunch in Central Park per Helen's restaurant recommendation! In complete contrast to this, after my traumatizing MOHS surgery by a Derm in CA this past January I was left reeling and didn't feel comfortable leaving the house for over a month. I felt disfigured and like I would never look like myself again. Dr. Markowitz gave me my sense of self back and a sense of security that, although I may deal with BCC for the rest of my life (and I am relatively young), I have a partner in my treatment who is dedicated to retaining your skin, not cutting and being as minimally invasive as she can while completely clearing your margins at the same time. She is wonderful, her staff is wonderful, her office is wonderful and what she is doing for her patients is truly life changing. I am headed back next month for re-checks and a few more treatments and am so looking forward to my appointment. I never thought I'd say that about cancer treatment! Thank you Dr. Markowitz!
