This honest review will most likely get deleted. The Gym itself is a nice, beautiful space belonging to Harlem Children Zone. THe coaches are amazing and the children enjoy attending. The only, big issue here is the founder, Ms Wendy Hilliard. You must wonder why anonymous reviews are not allowed and why she is not found on Yelp, which is known for giving the opportunty for honest reviews. Wendy is an individual who paints a portrait of herself to the media, which is all she is concerned about. She claims to give free and low cost gymnastics to the "minorities" in the community, however this is a lie. The only children who recieve free classes, are those belonging to HCZ students, as this is in return for merely using their space... it has zero to do with "giving back" to her community. All the money she recieves from donors, and she pays zero dollars for the space used, underpays her employees, and the scholarships provided are a joke and hard to obtain .. she does not take into account the families income. Although she is a few bucks cheaper than the surrounding gyms, i would hope so with the overcrowded classes, tuition collected, and the pennies she pays her staff. She is not in the best interest of the children, instead in the best interest of her name. You will never see her in the gym coaching, however you will see her coaching whenever the press comes around. For someone who calls themself a legend in history, you would think it would be more than the press who characterizes her as such an amazing woman carrying such a "mission". For someone who is non-profit, she sure does care about a dollar sign more than anything. These children represnt you Wendy, you do not Represent them. Without these young children, you are merely a name from the past. If you genuinely want your name to live on, take the time to take your " business hat" off and put your "passion hat on". The gym is a place where many children express themselves, its deeper than your brand. Zero connections with parents and treats her employees as if they are her paid slaves, ensuring to always keep her mask on whenevr eyes are around. Riding off of "providing opportunity to the minorities" is her brand, and she does a good job carrying it. Media is all you need to be believed by todays society.

It’s fine for a starter to assess if your kid likes gymnastics but the class sizes are too big for any real attention for any one child and the instructors seem more interested in showing off their skills than teaching. They instruct but do not do well in correcting form consistently enough. I will be taking my daughter to a different place next time now that I know she enjoys it and wants to improve
