I'm writing this review because we are currently desperate and do not know what to do... My partner (who won't be named for legal reasons) is a tenet currently living at The Lee. She moved in from a shelter through the Door and Breaking Ground programs. She moved in at age 23. The program was supposed to be temporary housing to help transition her to her own apartment. She resides in a SRO, and was told that she would be moved out before age 25. She adhered to every program and and followed all directions, yet she is 31 and still living there. To make things more complicated, we just recently had a child. I have been staying with her since she was pregnant, with hopes we would be finally moving out. We alerted the staff when she was two months pregnant, so the staff had ample time to help us but they haven't. The staff claimed it was because of back rent that we couldnt move forward but even after I personally paid off my partner's arrears, we are still given excuse after excuse. Our child is now five months old and we are still in this tiny box. We are awoken every week to screaming, and people fighting in the hallways, last year someone fire a gun in the staircase, and just this past week there was a stabbing in the lobby. We do not feel safe here. My partner does not want to be here. We don't want trouble for abandoning the apartment, but the Lee is giving us very little choice. I fear for my partner and my child. Please do not move here, even if you are desperate.
