A good friend and myself visited the Olde Good Things on 52nd Street BTW 8th and 9th Avenues and we were immediately gawked and spoken to as intruders or less than for no apparent reason other than our race however we simply ignored the disrespect and continued to try to sell and/or buy antique items. While I was browsing the shop looking at amazing antique furniture and chandeliers some younger fellow kept following me and asking me what I was looking for, I stated I was browsing and he rolled his eyes in disgust and continued following me. Meanwhile my friend who was in the front of the shop was told by the elder white man that he wouldn't look or even examine the unique antiques he possessed and to leave the shop. My buddy then yelled back to me "Kyle we have to leave they are acting very prejudgemental and intimidated for no reason whatsoever. Last but definitely not least there were about 10 Caucasian shoppers who came in after us and they were never asked anything and were permitted to look and use the many different antiques within without issue. We felt very belittled and put down and this type of attitude and behavior should never be tolerated or accepted, most definitely not from a business.

This is my go to place for everything from door knobs, antique pieces, lighting, vintage fixtures. Over the years, we have bought so many wonderful items from this dream land of the past. If I need something vintage, this is where I go to first. The staff is very helpful, the staff will work with you on what exactly you need, and offer suggestions. if I won the lottery, I would buy everything in Old good things, and then find the apartment to match it

A visit to one of several Olde Good Things New York locations is like a trip down memory lane. The architectural salvage is meticulously restored and displayed in all its wonder. They have a fabulous assortment of vintage chandeliers including crystal and industrial. And if you're looking for marble mantels, look no further. The staff is knowledgeable and not pushy. If they don't have what you're looking for in the store, just ask and they might be able to resource it from their gigantic warehouse in Scranton.
