Bob Goodale has cheated us out of $1000.
He was selling an inflatable boat and engine that was on the side of New Suffolk Rd and I called him. Goodale showed us the idling engine on another inflatable at the marina but didn't move the boat and didn't show us the inflatable boat for sale but informed us it was sound. Since we've known his son for years and live in the community we had trusted that he'd be honest. We took it home, put the inflatable and engine in the water and the engine was not working correctly and New Suffolk Shipyard said it would cost $400 to fix. The inflatable boat took on water immediately. We looked closer and the transom was separating from the back of the boat and it had been patched before. It took us 2 weeks to put boat in water since the weather was bad and my husband has to travel to NYC hospital for 2X weekly cancer treatments. So we called Bob and he came us with so many excuses. He said, it took you too long to call me.
I explained why. Then he said buyer beware, I don't want the boat back. I said you sold us a boat that is not seaworthy that I intended for my 4 young daughters to operate around the creek and realized it would be dangerous. Then Goodale said to go to Port Inflatables in Port Jefferson and fix it. They no longer sell the Aquastar boat which is 11 years old. I told him that it's not fair to not refund us for a boat that does not work. When something is broken, it should be refunded. We felt like suckers, since he would probably have taken the boat to the dump if he hadn't taken our thousand dollars. Goodale said, the deal with a boat is no take backs. We brought it back to him and he still has our money and refuses to give us a refund. It's just not right. He's a bad business man, dishonest and I would not recommend doing any kind of business with this man.
