I may need a TEE, and this has become and intensive care situation. He was extremely condescending. He didn't want anyone else telling him anything. If you know anything about medicine, he will act condescending towards you. If you know nothing about medicine I hate to see how you would trust this man. I decided to at the least, let him do his job anyway, but still got other things prepared. By the end of the work day my colleagues were calling me an ambulance and we were beginning to talk with family about next steps in case I died. If you have NO medical background at all, never go to this man--he would rather dig his heels in than admit that the patient knows his or her body better than he does. You won't even realize he is putting you at risk. If you DO have a medical background of some sort, his ineptitude will make itself evident very quickly anyway. There are plenty of wonderful doctors and services in the community. I would NOT risk your life by going to this man. On Friday I had a general idea of what was wrong. He made some snide condescending remarks, and by Monday I am in the ICU with an enlarged left artery--this was exactly what I was afraid of. And, by the way, I am still waiting for that phone call about my urine analysis and blood work. And if his excuse is that the blood he drew showed nothing, let me add that he refused to take the tests I asked him to. Shame on this man. Shame on his condescending self righteous attitude. And just ask yourself if you're willing to risk your life just to go to him. If it is something simple, go ahead. But to speak to a patient like that shows that he became a doctor for reasons other than because he cares to help people.
