Amalgamated Bank

So on Saturday, I went to do my normal routine. Go to the bank and pay some bills, unfortunately this Saturday the bank was not opened and there was only a sign asking that you call the 1-800 number for more assistance. And that was a sad joke because no one answered the overwhelming volume of calls that came. You just shut down, you don't reach out to the people who use your bank. This bank sucks a big one..

I went into Amalgamated bank today at around 12:30pm to setup an automatic payment for a mortgage account. I was greeted by two tellers that looked unhappy to take a customer. When I asked the teller for my request she looked annoyed. She passed me over to Shusma the other teller that looked equally as annoyed. If your job description is “customer service” then these two are definitely in the wrong business. At least smile and greet the customer. If you’re too lazy to your job then go home. Anyway, I was unable to provide a blank check at the moment and live far away so I requested if they could print a check for me. They said they were unable to do that and just brushed me away. I’ve been banking with Citibank for over 15yrs and never encountered this type of customer service. I had to bug the branch manager George Kessari’s a few times until he agreed to print a check for me when initially he said he couldn’t do that. They just wanted to make the situation difficult for me because of Shusma the teller who insisted it was impossible for me to set up automatic payment without a blank check. She wanted to prove her point. Well good job! All I wanted to do was set up an automatic payment, that’s all I wanted. Thanks Amalgamated bank.
