I waited a while before I wrote my review because I'm still in shock. I called in for an appointment and asked in detail if my insurance covers both the LENS EYE EXAM and CONTACTS EXAM, she assured me that both exams were covered. I already knew that it was, but I wanted to verify with them because I've had issues with other Providers. (A longer story for another day) So the day before, one of the receptionist calls to verify my appointment, but I was in a meeting so I missed the call and called back. She answers the phone I explain that I am returning the call to verify the appointment she rudely says okay bye and hangs up the phone. First red flag! but I wanted my contacts badly so I said I'll let it slide. Now the day comes I come in for my 2:15PM appointment at 1:50PM, I sign in and they don't even acknowledge me. Okay second red flag! So I sit down and wait and I notice over an hour goes by so I say loudly while on the phone "I'm about to leave because this is crazy", now at 3:30PM she calls me in. I do my first exam sliding around from machine to machine having a blast LOL. Then I go to the other room with the Dr., he's giving me the exam and I explain to him that I'm here for contacts as well. He says "Well, that's an additional charge I believe let me check with the front desk". He goes out and she comes in behind him now making eye contact and talking to me nicely "Ma'am it's a $75 fee for the exam", I looked at her and laughed and said "Okay". He does the exam gives me 2 week trial pair of contacts and tells me to sit outside and wait for my prescription. (Dr. is super nice BTW) I go over to pay and the girl is randomly moving from place to place I'm trying to follow her to give her the card, finally we figure it out and I pay. I sit back down to wait for my prescription so I can leave because at this point I've been in there for over three hours. While I'm waiting the Trini lady asks me if I'm getting my lenses or contacts from them. I told her "No because you already took my money. I'm not supposed to pay for the exam and I was charged but I'll take that up with my Union". Once I said that she said "Okay let me check, I'll help you", (Thank Jah for her because if she didn't acknowledge me I would have never got my money back) she goes to the girl who took my money and asked her "Did you check with someone before you charged her?" I didn't hear her response because she made sure not to speak loudly. The lady helping me went to the back, came back and spoke to another woman who was behind the counter. I put my head down again looking at my phone when all of a sudden I hear "Miss, can I see your card"(From the other woman whos behind the counter NOT the lady who helped me). I get up give her my debit card and watch her refund me my money. She asked me to sign the receipt and tells me it'll be back on my card in 24 hours. While I was waiting for her to complete the refund the Dr. gave me my prescription, so I asked her once she took the receipt "Is that it?" she didn't lift her head or respond. So I said "I guess that's it" and walked out. Her attitude was so noticeable that the girl who was also waiting laughed when I said it because like myself she was having issues communicating with them too. I've worked in commission based jobs before so I understand the hustle BUT when you STEAL from me and get caught the least you can do is apologize. I don't owe you anything, and I pay union dues so I can utilize my benefits. I shouldn't have to threaten to report to my union to be treated fairly. But lucky for you all, I'll be reporting it to my Union anyway. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.
