    My wife and I booked a venue in DUMBO earlier this year with BK Venues for September--then the C word hit. We were no longer going to be able to have our wedding celebration for the time we had booked. Due to our contract we had signed with them, we were in a no-win situation as it said deposits were not refundable. However, BK Venues was very understanding and kind to us and gave us a full refund of our deposit. They really didn't have to do that, but the fact that they did (in my eyes) makes them a respectable company. Obviously, I can't speak for the rental of the space itself, but I wanted to share our experience with them. It's a shame things worked out this way, as we were so excited to use their cool loft space for our event!

    Although, the premises was nice and I thoroughly enjoyed the event, I don't like how I was treated when I left an item behind. I accidentally left an item behind. Another guest was kind enough to take it to the front desk. This was on a Saturday. I went to pick it up on Monday and it wasn't there. I had to email the project manager and was rudely told that I was advised (Neither the guest nor I) that I was supposed to pick it up the next day or it would be discarded. So it was discarded. Then I asked for reimbursement for my item. I was essentially told that the contract holder signed a contract stating that items have be picked up at the end of the event that same day and that only they may be "potentially " reimbursed. This makes absolutely no sense. How would I know who the contract holder is or how would my guest know. The project manager was very professional in her tone essentially saying that I was out of luck and to go away.

    Unlike Joel's experience above, I had more of a careless experience with BK Venues in the time of COVID. Had the Bridgepoint space booked this Spring to celebrate my nuptials in the form of a party with friends and family. First, the place was a mess despite the "mandatory" scheduled tour they told us we needed to have during COVID/ the city being under quarantine. We saw the potential despite the construction/mess and went ahead to book them for May of 2021--silly us for thinking it would be safe by then, but anyway... When I reached out in Jan of this year to ask about the status of what they could do for us regarding our event scheduled for this May I was told I needed to reach out a 3 month span within the date & had to look up what day that was myself! they failed to even confirm for me what that date would be. So, after that date came I reached out again. It took over a week just to receive ANY type of reply. In the process of even booking the space to begin with I had to reach out to make sure they got the check & paperwork in the mail because it was radio silence weeks after being sent and I didn't know whether or not it had been received/our desired date had been secured. When they got back to me they had in fact received the paperwork and check. But they are a venue space--I SHOULD NOT NEED TO REACH OUT AFTER THEY GET MY MONEY/PAPERWORK TO ENSURE MY EVENT IS SCHEDULED! That is their one job!!! In correspondence they were completely unprofessional to me and rude, on top of misspelling my name so many times, and went so far as to blame needing my $1500 deposit due to their "year of lost revenue." In my initial email notifying them we would like to cancel I was compassionate and only asked for a partial refund. A bit annoying that they can refund some but not others... In the end my name kept being misspelled and I decided to take the $1500 loss because 1. I worry they wont be in business anymore when I would like to reschedule for and 2. Why would I want to give them another $1500 to have an event at a place owned by a company that treated me so poorly? No thanks. PLEASE dodge this bullet and go elsewhere. The spaces look good in photos but the customer service is utter garbage. They only want you for your money, won't tell you they received it, and then will proceed to misspell your name. Very very very disappointing considering how expensive they are!
