Unique selection of bikes and components compared to other shops, and the mechanics were good and chill people. But some of the markups and labor costs are seriously outrageous. I don't care what anyone says, it's unreasonable. The labor costs can end up being $100 for a 30-40 minute job. One item was marked up to over 200% of what I know it costs online (the FSA track chainring, to be specific). I get that local shops have to stay in business somehow but this is just too much.

I really wanted to like Deluxe, and form a bond with this shop. They arguably had the best looking bikes in NYC when they were operating here and their components still look great. The Ritchey x Deluxe stem and Martini liveried bikes are impossible to dislike and having ridden their wheels for about half a year at their price point they're impossible to fault. I am mindful that most people have had a great experience with Deluxe and that I am the outlier. Although the shop no longer exists I think it's fair to share my experience for people doing business with Deluxe in the future in their new base in California. Unfortunately, I had a less than positive experience with them as a bike shop and I was disappointed in the owner (Willis) although at first agreeing to rectify the issues but then going silent on me. I hope others have a better experience going forward and that the designs remain as good looking as they have been to date.

Cool shop! Finally a place that doesn't try to overprice everything while retaining amazing quality!

I was having problems with a seat post on my vintage Colnago Master and saw that these folks had worked on vintage Eroica amongst every other kind of bicycle. They were incredibly kind and welcoming when I showed up. The mechanic dug up a replacement seat post binder (rare), swapped it out, fixed the problem in minutes and then sent me on my way. Amongst other things, this is the most beautiful bike shop in New York. A range of items and none of the attitude that can sometimes suffocate high end places. No rush and walked me through some other long terms options for my bike given some upgrades I am potentially considering. Highly recommended, from high end work to the mundane. Great experience.
