Steal my mail and bank account information. Why The state of Ohio still here..

This place is a perfect example of what is wrong with the shelter system in NYC. Exists solely to make money, not mission driven in any way - Zero percent of the workforce acts like they want to be here and there is ZERO accountability for even the most basic things. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that in a place where few seem to take showers there is no soap, shampoo, or towels for clients to maintain a MOST BASIC sense of dignity. Ask why this is (being codified in law as something shelters are REQUIRED to provide clients) and the staff just shake their empty heads. I could think of better ways for the city to spend this money, turning it into compost for one, or perhaps building actual affordable housing. A future in which NYC relies on flaccidly inept Homeless Solutions like those provided by this shelter is a grim future indeed for those unlucky enough to end up being in the charge of these retards.

This facility was previous managed by Bronx Lebanon. Since N.A.I.C.A. has taken over management, numerous issues have arisen that have negatively impacted the surrounding community. 1. Previously, the shelter occupants were directed to either recreate within their fenced in outdoor area or leave the general vicinity. Today, they loiter on the sidewalk in front of the facility and all along Tremont Avenue from Anthony Ave to Webster Ave. 2. The residents have co-opted the southern end of Richman (Echo) Park as their own. Often, they are under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Moreover, they continuously litter in the park. This is the only large park in the neighborhood and many neighborhood residents are now apprehensive to enter the park because of the shelter occupant's presence. The City of New York has installed a hypodermic needle bin in the park in response to the rampant drug abuse. 3. The residents now panhandle on the sidewalks and streets walking in traffic. 4. It should be noted that this is a combined shelter and drug treatment facility. Many of the patients still regularly purchase and use drugs in the surrounding neighborhood. Their presence fuels the local drug trade and associated violence. On average, there is at least one shooting per year within a block of this facility. One of the most shocking in recent memory occurred next to the local elementary school. 5. This is a male only facility. Many of the residents have extensive criminal histories and/or are mentally ill. The career criminals certainly do not stop their criminal behavior upon entering this poorly supervised facility. Rather, they impose their negative behaviors upon the immediate neighborhood. This is a neighborhood primarily composed of working class families with children. A facility like this really ought to be located in an industrial area to minimize the negative impacts. The mentally ill are clearly not receiving proper care which is unfortunate for them and potentially dangerous for neighborhood residents. 6. You can see staff members arriving in luxury vehicles which they park in the facility's parking lot. It appears that N.A.I.C.A. is a "non-profit" in tax status only. To profit off the homeless and ruin the quality of life of a working class neighborhood in the process is very unfortunate. 7. Historically, this building was a medical building which functioned to improve the health of the neighborhood residents. Today, it essentially does the opposite.
