We really enjoyed our stay at the Carlsbad KOA. The location is very central to local attractions--Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Roswell were the ones we specifically visited. The laundry room and recreation center were open 24 hours, which was really convenient so that we didn't have to rush for a certain time on laundry. The park was well kept, and the dog park was very appreciated. Customer service was great and very friendly. They threw an Independence Day party for those at the KOA which included food and games for the kids.

Over 100 degrees and the pool was closed for the two days we were there. Manager woman was rude and said the pool is not what we paid for only the water and electricity. But we chose this place because of the pool. We have 5 kids and to see them so hot and miserable broke my heart. Rude rude rude! Make sure they have all the amenities you pay for. The handy man I spoke with said the pools been closed all summer! Noteworthy details: The handyman ion site who lives here said the pools been closed all summer! Bathrooms were locked and manager said they werent so we couldnt even take a cool shower!

Great place to stay if you are visiting Carlsbad Caverns or Guadalupe Mountains National Parks! Check-in was easy, staff was helpful, and the office has a gift shop/convenience store if you need some ice cream after a hot day in the desert. The kitchen/bathroom space in the Ocotillo cabin (sleeps up to 4) is very small. If you are traveling in a group larger than 2, consider that you may be a little cramped in this cabin. Still would recommend it.

Campground: Carlsbad Holiday KOA City, State: Carlsbad, New Mexico Check-in: June 28, 2023 Check-out: June 30, 2023 Site Number: B3 Our Set Up: 32 foot Class C and TOAD We Liked: Friendly staff in office. Big common/game room, Covered patio with giant chess and checkers set up. Decent playground. Laundry facilities that had shorter dryer cycles (nice for not over-drying). Roads easy to navigate. We Didn't Care For: Swimming pool was tiny. Store was not particularly well stocked. Bathrooms were disgusting-regardless of time of day, sinks were dirty, paper towels all over floor, looked like it was rarely cleaned. Overall Assessment: This KOA was really more of a Journey than a Holiday. There was no indication that they catered to anyone but the one-nighters. I was disappointed at the overall conditions of this KOA. Also, if you need a campground to serve as a Basecamp when going to either Guadalupe Mountains National Park or Carlsbad Caverns, look elsewhere. This campground is on the far (far, far) side of Carlsbad, away from those two destinations - 45 mi from Carlsbad Caverns and 73 miles for Guadalupe Mountains NP. I wish I could recommend this KOA, but sadly, I'd pass in the future.

Park is run down. It seemed that management didnt value maintaining anything. 4 out of 9 wash machines were broken. Staff used the pay washers to wash bedding from the cabins. When I went to wash our clothes, no washers were available and I was told I would have to wait. The pool was closed. We chose this park for the pool so we are greatly disappointed to not be able to use it. Apparently, it has been closed for months and management is choosing not to repair. The playground was decent and did provide some entertainment. The recreation room had some fun stuff to do but it was 94 degrees in there and was too hot to really enjoy. The poor coi fish pond was almost dried up and fish had no space to swim. We put the hose in and filled it up while we were there. The RV spots were basic but they had full hookups.
