Golden Coral is very different. The new changes from the plates, napkins, service process are terrible. If you haven't been there in a while, prepare for a surprise. Plates: having new plates is always good but they didn't quite test them out before making the purchase decision. The old plates were round, flat and had a ridge on the end that helped keep the food on the plate and not slide off. They were practical. The new plates look cool and are white and square, but the plate is concave. This means that you can't really keep the food from mixing. Example: their great tasting chicken now gets soggy from gravy, mashed potatoes and corn or green bean juice. When you have older and younger patrons and you have any time of fried food, it just slides off the plate creating messes all over. Silverware and napkins: so they upgraded the silverware and it's a nice heavy quality. But they took away the option from the patron getting their own. Now you have to depend on the servers. The napkins are nice and thick but are no longer on the table. So when you need extra you have to depend on the busy server. If you have kids or family and you know exactly what you need for the meal, be prepared to ask your server many times. My kid has to have a spoon for every bowl of fruit, she can't use one spoon for it all. It created a meltdown because we had to ask the server for extra spoons and we felt like a nuisance. When you first walk in you are accustomed to getting your drinks in advance. That changed too. You place your drink order and the servers bring it to your table. So forget about creating your own concoctions of lemonade industry iced tea. I do think this was a great step though because the trays of drinks were heavy and it eliminated the use of trays. I liked the trays when you have kids you are assisting because it allows you to at least get your food along with theirs so you can eat too. Now you have to follow your kid and get their food first, sit them down and then get your food. So frustrating for parents of young children. The food still tastes the same!

I love this Golden Corral. Very large variety. Fresh, good portions. The staff is always courteous and efficient. Elbow room at the tables.
