Barbara Miller Music

I began taking lessons with Barbara Miller with very little previous music experience. Despite my initial fear that I didn't have natural talent for playing music, and therefore also lacked potential, the most important thing I learned with Simply Music is that music is something intuitive, and accessible to us whether we realize it or not. Whereas music lessons and the required practice that accompanies them has the tendency to feel like a chore, taking Simply Music lessons felt natural, and genuinely fun. (It's also extremely encouraging to find that you begin playing actual songs right from the start!) I am now adventuring into the world of cello and feel much more confident than I would have had I not had such a wonderful experience learning to play the piano with Barbara.

Barbara Miller has truly inspired my 8 year old daughter and shared her love of playing the piano with us. I can't believe how much and how well my daughter is playing in such a short time. I look forward to the progression and innovation in the years to come. Thank you, Barbara!!

My son has loved music since he was a baby. He had wanted to play the piano since the age of two. At age 5 he began taking traditional lessons. After a year and a half, he was frustrated with and wanted to quit piano. Enter Miss Barbara. After his first Simply Music lesson, he was hooked. His love for learning piano returned and his confidence grew. He has been with Miss Barbara for three years now. He never mentions quitting and looks forward to lessons. Her passion for teaching piano coupled with her patience and discipline foster an atmosphere of growth and learning. Now my seven year old son has started his first Simply Music lesson. Already he and his brother play duets. Although my seven year old is always on the move, Miss Barbara's teaching methods harness his energy and direct them towards piano in a way that is fun and effective.

My daughter started taking piano lessons from Barbara Miller this past summer. Barbara encourages parent participation in the lessons and practice, so in a way, I'm taking piano lessons too. My daughter and I absolutely love practicing the piano every day together and we enjoy our lessons too. Barbara is highly skilled at recognizing when a student is finding a piece easy and needs a little challenge, as well as when a student is encountering a challenge and needs patience and encouragement. As a former professional flutist, I know a lot about music, but the Simply Music program has blown me away - I have never encountered such a fun program for learning an instrument. After only 2 months, my daughter and I can sit down at the piano and play five lovely songs by memory - even though we are just beginners, we are already feeling some of the enjoyment that an accomplished pianist might experience. We are so grateful for finding Barbara Miller and Simply Music.
