Bayview Terrace Restaurant

I originally dined here way back in the summer of 2009. Recently relocated to the NJ Shore, I dined with family in May 2014. Both experiences were very good, but my review is (fairly) based on my most recent visit. I'm quite sure the gentleman that greeted and seated us is the owner and the same man who was there 5 years ago. On this visit, a Saturday evening, they had a man playing classic tunes on the piano (electric style not Liberace style). It added a lovely ambiance, but with an already noisy environment this made conversation more challenging (especially for anyone hard of hearing). Just something to keep in mind and not a complaint in anyway as I wish more dining options offered live music - in the background. This is BYOB venue (like many area restaurants), so bring along your favorite drink (wine, beer, etc) and enjoy with your meal. After being seated, we were promptly greeted by a friendly server and wine glasses were brought to the table. This would be the end of prompt service, though when present, she was still polite. I ordered the Tilapia Encrusted with Fresh Herbs and Panko Bread Crumbs. It was served with a Citrus Beurre Blanc and Red Wine Reduction, which was delicious! I would absolutely order it again! My sister had the Sea Scallops - and they too were excellent except the server failed to ask if she wanted them broiled or fried. Fortunately the breading was light. The 3rd entree was the Sliced Steak Platter - served up with Onion Rings. All entree's include soup or salad, potato and vegetable. They should offer their Onion Soup for a small upcharge. Our entree's range from $17 to $22, very fair for the quality, portions and location - plus the complimentary entertainment. We passed on dessert or coffee, so I cannot comment on those. For some, the service experience would have resulted in an even lower review (maybe 3 stars), but we were out to relax. However, it was still noticeably slow. With great service, my experience could have easily been 5 stars. I would definitely return or recommend.

The service was extremely slow and the food is marginal at best. Took 36 minutes to get our soup. Nice view, but not a place I would come again.
