    Great place, rented a bunch of cars from them. Ownership and management are very friendly and always have a good supply. My car died before a big work conference in CT, I had a suv within the hour and very well priced, I highly recommend this place.

    Only place in area that actually had a car available Decent not great Updating my review and dropping - apparently the guy at the location put me in as renting only for one day instead of the 2 that I clearly asked for - I called Avis to get a receipt - after the guy on the phone told me there was no additional fee for the extra day other than paying for the day - the receipt clearly charged me a late fee of $20

    Do NOT rent a car from this location. I strongly urge you to steer clear of this Avis. I had the absolute WORST experience I’ve had with this location. A complete nightmare. They put a $455 hold on my credit card AFTER the vehicle was returned that I had to fight to get removed for THREE WEEKS!!!!

    On 11OCT2021 I reserved a one-way rental vehicle from Avis in Toms River, New Jersey to Norfolk, Virginia for my trip home after Thanksgiving. My reservation was for 28NOV2021 with a pickup time at noon and drop off at 11pm. I arrived at Avis on Route 37 early (approx. 945am) to grab my rental vehicle. Upon arriving, there was one customer in front of me in line to pickup a vehicle. This customer had a reservation too, but was turned away due to a vehicle shortage. This customer was not notified and her reservation was never cancelled. When I spoke to the clerk, I was also informed that there were no vehicles available. I, too, never received a notification beforehand and my reservation was never cancelled. I booked this vehicle six weeks in advance when I planned my trip home for thanksgiving, with the assumption that Avis would honor my reservation. I’m in the Navy and had to return to my ship on Monday morning, so I had no flexibility to wait for a vehicle to become available. Extremely poor customer and a lack of awareness by the Avis staff in Toms River essentially screwed me and my family in New Jersey, as we all had to scramble to make arrangements to get me back to Virginia. Allowing your locations to operate like this will quickly garner negative publicity and weaken Avis’ ability to compete with other rental car companies. This issue needs to be rectified ASAP, especially with holiday travel arrangements. Asking your company to honor a reservation, made weeks in advance is not asking too much.

    I had an overall excellent experience here. I usually am a loyal Gold tier member of enterprise right down the block, but when I truly needed a rental this past 30 days, Enterprise failed me tremendously. If it wasn't for Avis, I would have been left stranded. I booked my reservation with Enterprise, but when I got there they were unable to fulfill my booking that day due to a supposed 'National Car Shortage'. I booked for a weekly rental using the Avis online app, and was in a car in 30 min. Sam at the front desk was very courteous, polite, and helpful. He was even able to put me in a new Toyota, Prius Hybrid, which is saving me tremendously on gas. 2 days into my week rental, I ran into a difficulty when I realized I needed to book the car for a month instead of a week. When I tried to extend my current rental using the app, it was coming out to over $2300. But if I were to book a whole month from that day forward, on a new reservation, it came out to almost $1000 cheaper. I am on an extremely tight budget, and did not want to throw $1000 more away just because I made a mistake in not booking my original rental for a month, two days prior, when I only booked for a week. The corporate office and app could not resolve my issue, but when I was told that I needed to partner with the actual storefront, The owner Muhammad and the front desk representative, Sam, went out of the way to keep me a satisfied customer. Muhammad, the owner, spoke to me personally over the phone and was extremely empathetic of my logistical issue in reference to the rental extension over-pricing. He personally went into the computer system remotely and honored the cheaper, more reasonable, monthly rate for me. I will be giving this location my business in the future! Thanks Muhammad and Sal. I appreciate you.
