Venus et Fleur, a name I might never learn how to pronounce. Ironically, that's what made me mosey on in. I figured if I can't I pronounce it, I can't afford it, but that's what credit cards are for. Lucky for me, my parents forgot that they cosigned their Amex. So I was ready to spend. I would be remiss to not explain the gravity of the situation. I was on the cusp of a date that will live in infamy. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was Valentine's Day yet again. I say that with a heavy heart as I had previously made the worst of decisions when I casually purchased a teddy bear made of roses through InstaCart. It was almost as expensive as the medical treatment I received after I fell into a door. Yes... it was a door I told them. Regardless, the teddy bear was of poor quality as I had been bamboozled into a world of regret. So I walked into what appear to be a rather bougie store. I was nervous, dreading again that I might make another poor decision. A bead of sweat visibly slid down my forehead. I tried to look classy, as if I'd been there before. A lady walked up to me with a big smile. She greeted me just as the sweat slipped onto my eyeball. I felt the fire of a thousand suns as I started to tear up, but I wiped my eye quickly. It was time to look manly. Yes, I um, I need roses, I explained. The lady waved her hand & explained, yes, this is a rose store. It was then that I knew, Fleur did indeed have something to do with flowers. I then proceeded to explain my most dire situation. The lady giggled nervously as I kept rubbing my eye. Aside from my porous sweat glands, I was also dressed in work clothes that may or may not have smelled like I belonged to the streets. Nonetheless, she was extremely welcoming & ignored my odd demeanor. She said she was happy to aide me in my escape from the dog house. Venus et Fleur's representative showed me their entire collection of roses. She explained how long they lasted, encouraged me to experience how pleasant they smell, and even allowed me to hold some of their more elegant vases. I have to admit, I went back & forth on several of the selections. I truly tested the lady's resolve as she handled the marble, ceramic, and felt textured vases & box one after the other. Yet, she persisted. I ended up with a vase that was stone, I think. I can't be certain as I played with simple rocks as a child. This one was elegant & had the very fancy Venus et Fleur gold plaque on the front. I felt bad as I asked the lady to pull out the marble one again, but she did so without hesitation. I'll take the stone one, I told her and she smiled and said of course. The rep then had her co-worker help her set up my gift. They worked together to bring out a new vase from the back. They carefully placed it in some sort of cardboard box setup that I will never in my life figure out how to arrange. I had fully intended on showing my mother the gift to see if she approved, but we both gave up quickly when trying to peek through the entrapment. Fortunately, this enclosure was extremely secure & it protected the rose filled vase as if my life depended on it, which perhaps may have been the case. Valentines Day came, and I of course pretended I forgot. I tricked my fiance into finding it in the closet. I will always remember her joy as she pulled out the fancy bag, which she was quick to point out was super heavy! What is this!? She exclaimed. Well, open up and see! She too struggled with the protective casing but she's both the beauty & the brains in the relationship and she mowed through it with a pair of scissors, which come to think of it, she just so happened to have had on her. OMG! They're so beautiful! Thank you thank you so much! I won't get into the rest as it's a private story, but it was a much different Valentine's Day experience & no one got hurt. Thank you Venus et Fleur for your wonderful product & delightful employees. Our apartment smells of roses & happiness & I owe it all to you. I plan to come back whenever she gets mad.
