    The local Avis franchise at Laguardia Airport attempted to charge additional fees after the rental was returned. The first was a so-called airport fee which was not included in the original reservation for the rental, nor was it on the rental agreement when I picked up the vehicle. The second blatantly fraudulent fee was for not filling the vehicle with gas before returning it, which I did right down the road from Avis, I even showed the gas receipt to the attendant who acknowledged it. To make things even more annoying, when I contacted the corporate billing offices, upon looking into the fraudulent charges, he attempted to justify them rather than being alarmed that fraud is being committed in their name. After some time on the phone with the Avis representative, he finally waived the fees...How many victims don't question this practice and unknowingly pay the additional fraudulent charges. Avis has lost my business!

    TL:DR - Make sure you have a credit card This all began with an attempt to purchase a one-way vehicle rental. To clarify, at the time of the rental there were two bank cards associated with my Wizard number, my corporate card (expired at the time) and my personal debit card (active). I attempted to use Avis.com, logging into my account with my Wizard credentials. I was blocked from checking out with my personal debit card which I have used in the past without incident. It took 7 people over roughly 3 hours to advise me that I could no longer store a debit card on my profile, with the last person had to manually complete the reservation. To clarify, six other employees could not understand why I could not check out, had not seen the reported error message (which I read to them) and could not help resolve the incident. At this point, I did not have confidence that if I updated my corporate card, it wouldn't be charged. A situation that could, worst case scenario, get me fired. So it remains expired and will so until I have need of a rental for business. I was advised that I would need to present the debit card when I picked up the rental, with no indication at this point that this problem would continue. Only that I could not pre-pay for the rental. When I presented the card, I was met with hesitation and a request for a credit card, which I do not have. I was asked for my return flight information, which I did not have as I was dropping the rental at a different location. This too caused concern with the clerk. At the end of the trip, I had to change the drop off time. I could not complete this online, or through the app. No indication as to why, when I chose 3:00pm ET (Hagerstown Regional Airport) to drop off the rental, that the site closes at 2:00pm ET. It was only when I spoke to Guillermo (hope I've spelled that right) that I was informed of the closing time. I arrived at 1:30pm ET to find no one at the counter, so I dropped the keys in the drop box. So concerned was I about the whole transaction, I took pictures of the car parked at the airport and sent it to my wife. This incident has caused me to lose any sort of trust or respect for Avis. I cannot fathom why there was such concern over a debit card. Except for the company that I work for, who expects us to use Avis as our primary source of rentals, I will likely find another agency.

    Renting with Avis has been the worst experience that i have ever had in history, i previously rented a vehicle a couple of months ago , the vehicle was towed because of mechanical reasons, and i needed to obtain a receipt from Avis so in regards to the vehicle that it was towed, so that i can be reimburse by my insurance company. OMG it was hell, i was transferred to one person to the next , one department to the next no one seemed to have any info about what i was talking about, the duration of me trying to obtain a simple thing as a tow receipt was ridiculous. I eventually got the situation resolved by sending in a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Now 4 months later am dealing with another issue where Avis is still taking money out of my account for different charges , again its been hell disputing anything with Avis customer service, i now again have to go file another complaint with the BBB. Avis yes you have made my life a night mere, i will never rent from you again .
