"The Hawke" is reborn under new owners! Redesigned bar, partial roof over the outdoor patio, and heaters (spring & fall)! Consistently very good food (emphasis on meats!). Great beer selection (12 on tap and others bottled). IMO the area's #1 craft beer destination. And they take good care of their beer, so it always tastes fresh! People tell me the mixed drinks are also good. The main dining room has a working fireplace (that's lit in the winter). The staff is courteous and well organized.

We were a party of two at the bar. Our food order did not stretch the kitchen. We each had a French onion soup. I had a grilled Romain salad and my spouse had a Cesar salad. Service was great and the food was fine.

This is a great spot- but if you're planning to eat here, grab a reservation if they're available. We went on a Friday, they were parked and parking took a little time to find. There isn't a whole lot of extra space to wait around in, and the bar was equally packed while we waited. We tried a little bit of everything, there was not a single item that disappointed. Many of the meals are a la carte- but the portions were decent enough that we could share most between 4 of us. We tried quite a few of the apps and sides, including the asparagus, Brussel sprouts, garlic whipped mashed potatoes, loaded baked potato, gorgonzola garlic bread, calamari and sausage stuffed mushrooms. Personally, I don't care for mushrooms, but these were OUT OF THIS WORLD. I can't remember the meals everyone else chose, but my filet was perfectly cooked and seasoned. You can always tell when a meal is good because of the sudden silence among a table. I would definitely return here, but be aware it's not a cheap meal. Worth it? Absolutely. But be prepared to spend a decent amount. Oh and finally, the staff. They were outstanding, from the bar to the servers/ food runners. Very polite, quick to clear plates, and for as busy as the restaurant was everything came out pretty quickly!!
