This sporting goods store had it all. I remember a few things going back to mid 60s # 1 A chimpanzee named jugs would be in the store sitting on the counters and playful with everyone as he was a film and party pet. 2 On each receipt it said "Anything Else Sir From Meltzer" & 3 great Colt handgun selection and prices were very competitive. The owner was a good guy who seemed mellow to me. Would go here with my dad and hang out and talk, not a large store however it was stocked well. Fishing, camping, hunting and accessories. Next door was a great Jewish bakery called "Village Bakery" they made a Passover cake macaroons, apricot & berries with yellow cake, every year. Sorry to see this Garfield store closed and the bakery as well.

Worked with Peter in the gun section. Was very helpful and patient. Will definitely return and recommend other people to the store.
