Children's Specialized Hospital Outpatient Center – Clifton

I wanted to share how happy we are with our childs PT services at the Clifton location. Our therapist Alethea is super motivated, enthusiastic and highly skilled, and it feels as though she takes a real personal interest in our child, celebrating with her successes and recommending different techniques and approaches to apply at home. The entire atmosphere is super welcoming and warm; everyone is constantly cheering each other on and the camaraderie among the staff is wonderful to see. Additionally, the front desk staff is very on top of their game, getting to things before we get to speak with them. The wait to start services worth it for the quality of care given.

Just dealt with some shady behavior. We waited 5 months to be scheduled and finally got an appointment in July. A few days later we got a called informing us that the appointment was cancelled due to non-availability with the therapist. I finally inquired this week because it has been 7 months and was informed that an appointment was scheduled back in July and it was cancelled on our end because the time did not work for us????

Really am disappointed with my daughters appointment every time she goes her clinicians just ask me questions about her and behavior and what medication do I want for her to be prescribed to her like I know am not a professional ...I am a single mom struggling with three kids and the whole point of me coming to this appointment is to make sure my daughter doesn't have a condition not to be criticize or judged .I am completely disappointed with my daughter clinician and appointment I was supposed to leave the appointment feeling safe and heard and helped but I left to cry like a baby in my car because of her behavior towards my situation not to mention I am a great mom and I have no village.. all she did was let her play with toys that are dirty and unsanitized cause every time we leave the appointment and come home my kids get sick .. throwing up and coughing like they caught lil germ bugs .. really wish I can change or get real help that I need

If you can avoid working with children specialized hospital, then please do. Im only here because its the only option. I called a month ago for my daughter to get speech therapy that was prescribed by the doctor. The woman on the phone told me I have to go to the evaluation in Union from Paterson for her to start speech therapy in Clifton. If I did not take the appointment in Union I would have to wait a long time for the Evaluation so I decided to take her to Union. There was only speech FEEDING evaluation. Not for actually speaking. If I had known this I wouldnt have wasted this time that my daughter could have been receiving therapy! So I call right away to schedule the speech SPEAKING evaluation and they tell me theres no available appointments in newark, Bayonne, Clifton, Union in their 90 day window from the date of the call. He also told me there is no waiting list and I cant schedule for passed 90 days. His suggestion was to call up to 3 times day to see if anything changed. Its ridiculous how difficult they make it for you. I cant even schedule and be put on a waiting list. Apparently they dont do waiting lists if another patient cancels. I just have to call a million times a day and hope and pray something opens?? Mind you this is not the first issue weve had even in other locations. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere that actually cares and is considerate for their patients if you can.
