If I could give a ZERO I would, incompetent staff and idiotic management. Sat on the phone for 30 MINUTES while trying to see how my grandfather is. Dont bring your loved ones here, theyre shot!

Unfortunately my love one had to experience this place for 10 days and it was absolutely traumatizing. All liberties are taken away. The water is sink water, juice is frozen and you can't bring it back to your room. On multiple occasions my loved one was served pink chicken. You had to ask permission to wash your clothes and staff acted like every request was a burden to them. A necklace that she came in with was "lost"(stolen) by staff. It was a very sentimental necklace and trying to call them on a monday during business hours is almost impossible to talk to anyone. They barely treat people too because the staff's case load is so high the doctor saw my girlfriend for maybe 5 minutes the whole time she was there. No one helped her claim disability after being told they would help us. Staff fights amongst themselves constantly. When we visited my girlfriend during visiting hours the fire department was leaving because someone in another unit started a fire. One STAFF member asked a patient to square up (fight) a patient, great de-escalation training. All the one star reviews about this place are true and it amazes me places like this exist that are supposed to help these people end up traumatizing them instead. I'm sure I'll get an automated response on this review telling me to call or email their advocacy group but they don't answer or respond. I beg the state of new Jersey to shut this place down or seriously invest in quality staff and training. And being able to eat cooked food should be a human right that was violated for my girlfriend. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE THIS PLACE IS A SHINING EXAMPLE OF HOW MUCH OF A FAILURE OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IS!

Its really understandable that a lot of reviews will be low because no one really wants to be here. I am the daughter of a patient who was here recently. Thankfully my mom is doing well now. However its disappointing how this place is. First and foremost they have an extremely lazy and inhumane policy of needling the patients when they refuse medication. Of course if a patient is violent or a danger to themselves or others this may be appropriate. But its extremely lazy and disgusting to threaten patients with a tranquilizer needle if they refuse medication. Its like beating a child to get them to listen. Except this is supposed to be a professional facility not your moms. Second, they only accepted new, unopened toiletries. I spent close to $100 on buying my mom her favorite products to comfort her since they dont allow visitors. (Another red flag, but theyre blaming this on COVID in the year 2024). These products were kept away from the patients and only allowed to be used when asked for. These products were not returned to her when leaving and she never got to use them because they were never offered to her. We were told they were lost. I see in many other reviews this is a common theme. Workers who are stealing peoples belongings should be fired. Overall its not the worst place in the world but if you have a choice Id definitely recommend not having a loved one come here. Id also hope that eventually this place gets inspected and reviewed and reforms are made for the future patients to have a better experience. Extremely disappointing being in constant fear that theyre going to traumatize my mother by giving her a needle, and extremely disappointing that as a low-income family our personal belongings and brand new toiletries were stolen.
