Cafe Andre

My wife and I wanted a nice dinner to celebrate our first year anniversary. We wanted to try a restaurant in the Lake Sunapee area. After looking at menus and reading reviews, we chose Cafe Andre, going there with an open mind. If I had not read the reviews on the quality of food there, I would most likely have driven right by it and tried another restaurant. The inside was fine, but not extravagant, and the outside did not look like much. Fortunately, and unfortunately, we were the only dinners in the restaurant. We ordered the duck special, and the Tornadoes Royal. We figured we would share each other's meal and try several things. The duck was really good, but the Tournadoes were truly exceptional. I would highly recommend eating here, it is a hidden gem. This book can not be judged by it's cover! The prices were very reasonable for the food that was served. The superior food served here far out ways the initial appearance of this restaurant. I will definitely go there to eat again! One of the reviews stated that it was not a place for children, and that they were rude. I found out that they were not rude at all, but unless your children are used to eating adult plates and fine food, it is probably not the place to take your children. They do not have a kids menu, and the waitress was right in mentioning that. If your kids do enjoy different adult dishes, then I would absolutely go there. I can't wait to go back again.

We were headed to another restaurant when we passed Andre's and decided to stop. Loved the decor and the garden. Service was excellent and food was very good. If I was staying in NH longer I would definitely go back!

We went in early June,on a Saturday at 6:00. We were the only two guests in the place; as such, we got the best seats in the house- the window overlooking a lovely garden, vibrantly in bloom. I had the shrimp cocktail appetizer, a duck in cherry sauce as my main course, and cheese cakewith strawberries for dessert. Every course was tasty, fresh, and wonderfully presented. The service was responsive and friendly. We liked this place so much that we will likely come back to Sunapee for future holidays if only so as to eat at this place again.
