Henniker House

Lovely B&B, Allison and Ray are awesome. Made us feel right at home. We had to leave early one morning, and Allison left a beautiful cup of verries and melon for us in the fridge. Lots of little extras here. Deck by river, large bathroom, and more.

I have stayed in many such inns, and have never been less impressed.  The innkeeper was a sharp and unpleasant female;  I did not meet her husband.  The Victorian house was redone but not in an especially good fashion (vinyl windows, thrift shop type furnishings), there were signs everywhere (do this, don't do that, etc.).  It gave off a cold and unfriendly feeling.  The owners--who apparently live in part of the enlarged building--went out at night and left their poodle at the house, who went on an extended barking binge and woke me up.  I got up early and did not bother to stay for breakfast.Too bad, because it was expensive, and I was looking forward to it.  Henniker is a darling town, but this place is not recommended.

We had a thoroughly wonderful stay at this lovely B and B. The setting was just beautiful, right on the Contoocook river. My room overlooked the river with a small deck off the back of the room. The food was amazing (all cooked by Alison, the owner), who was very friendly and helpful, offering us suggestions and information about the area. The rooms were beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. Check in was very easy, as she gave us very specific directions about when to arrive, and what do do upon arrival. Also, getting in/out of the Inn was through a coded door, which was easy and convenient to use. The Inn also had a lovely deck located in the back of the Inn which overlooked the river, which was a wonderful amenity for guests to enjoy the natural beauty surrounding them. I would definitly recommend this lovely gem if you are visiting Henniker, NH or the surrounding areas. But book early as this place will definitely fill up fast!
