Sharon Gainsburg is the artist and teacher who owns this studio. I was recovering from my 9th spine surgery, and I was kicking my lower lip around because of it. My surgeon told me to go find something to do that would help me "get out of my head." He wanted me to stop focusing on limitations and pain. Makes sense, right? I'd always wanted to try sculpting so, I went online looking for sculpting classes, and found Sharon. That very day I visited the studio and was greeted by Sharon who introduced me to a studio filled with hammer and chisel wielding students of all shapes, sizes and skill levels. Within an hour I was "out of my head" and chipping pieces of stone away to begin shaping something I'd always wanted to create--an Angel wing. Sharon guided and coached. She helped me every step of the way, and in so doing she unlocked something within me, and, in a short time, I was sculpting. It took me several weeks, but I did finish that wing. It sits proudly in my home, and I've completed three other sculptures over the years, each one with Sharon's skillful voice guiding me. She is an amazing teacher. So, if you are looking for something to help you peel back a layer of yourself--try sculpting. Whether you have experience, or none at all, this teacher can and will bring the best out of you. The classes are affordable, they are frequent, and the tools are there for you to use. All you have to do is pay the class fee, show up and sculpt. It's great fun, very therapeutic and creative--I love it.
