My procedure went well and customer service during the process was good as well. After the fact though I found out they over charged me. I have a lasik benefit with my vision insurance which paid Wellish $1000 towards my procedure. I was told I would be refunded but here we are 1 year from my surgery and nothing. I have called countless times and they say their system has been down since November of last year when they made a change and they cannot issue any refunds until after it is fixed. I had my procedure in March of 2023. What happened between March and November? Im sorry but at this point its insurance fraud. No company takes this long to fix their systems. How are you continuing to function as a business if your systems are that messed up? How did you do your year end close out? You obviously had/have no intention to refund people that over paid. I cannot be the only one this has happened to.

I first need to explain my first visit in 2017 with the LV center, establishing a doctor in Nevada. I spent over 6 HOURS in the office waiting for testing and "other emergencies" only to be told I did not have what I was told by two other doctors, I had. Dr. Kent Wellish dismissed their diagnoses and diagnosed me with dry eye syndrome and unfortunately, none of HIS procedures or medications were covered by insurance and were "cash pay". I also needed eye duct plugs, right away. I bit the bullet and purchased the very expensive eye drops at that time, which did not help. I did some research and spoke to friends that had this done and was told they're uncomfortable and didn't help them. It was when I got 2 calls in 2 days reminding me to bring in my $1800 for the eye plug surgery, that I decided to cancel my appointment. I found a new eye doctor that again confirmed my previous diagnosis and prescribed medication covered by insurance. Fast forward to 2022. I was hoping to get Lasik, so I didn't need to wear glasses. my doctor did not perform the procedure so I googled Lasik doctors. I went to the Henderson location and again, went through a lot of testing, even though I had the same tests done in my previous doctors office. Again, I was told I did not have what 3 doctors have now diagnosed me with. Dr. Wellish told me I have cataracts even though I have regular visits and have never been told that. I was told to follow up again in 1 month. Again I returned and went through all of the same testing. hmmm...I was told that your eyes change and the testing was necessary. I felt very uncomfortable about doing all these tests again but "its necessary", as I am told. I had another follow up appointment scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. I received a call the day before and was told I would need to be rescheduled because Dr. Wellish had a "Very Important Meeting". I cancelled my appointment and told her I was not rescheduling since they feel my time is not as important. I think I would have fine with what is likely the real reason, its the day before the holiday and he wanted to leave early. That I can understand. Not telling your patients that what you have to do is "very important" and what your patients do, is not. I wont go into detail about the suggestions I was given to "embellish" my symptoms to the insurance company so they will cover my "cataract surgery". Fast forward to 18 months ago. I found a new doctor, close to where I live. He again diagnosed me with the same thing 3 other doctors have now diagnosed me with. How can 3 doctors all say the same thing but all be wrong? Cataract surgery will not fix my issue. Had he not cancelled my appointment, I probably would have undergone an unnecessary surgery that would not have fixed my problem. Bottom line...Always get a second opinion before scheduling ANY surgery. Especially when it comes to your eyes.

The lasik aspect of the practice is phenomenal. Dr. Wellish and Dr. McCandles are amazing. But when I started to suffer from dry eye I was referred to Dr. May. Unfortunately I have yet to meet this doctor because I wait well over an hour for every appointment I schedule with him. I have a very busy schedule working full time and the wait times to be seen are absolutely insane. I waited 2+ hours my first visit to be seen and I had to leave to go to work because I waited SO long. My second appointment I waited over an hour and had to leave again for work. Unfortunately now I will be seeking care for my dry eye somewhere else. I wish the staff would be more transparent about to wait times because I usually have no problem rescheduling. Again the staff is great and very nice but they really need to get these wait times under control.
