    I spent ten years planning the remodel of my kitchen and living areas.  The centrepiece of my kitchen was to be the Mexican Saltillo floor tiles.  The tiles are handmade and therefore not terribly consistent in size or thickness. I asked Jerry about this when I interviewed him.  He said, I've got guys that can lay that, no problem.  I told him that I could buy the tile pre-sealed or his people could seal it.  He responded that his people would seal it, no problem.  I bought a LOT of extra tile so that the people who laid it would be able to pick the best to lay.  All of the tile was stored in the attached garage.  The guy that brought them in acted like carrying them those ten feet was going to kill him.  It took him an entire day (a couple of hours, after which he called it a day.). They used the tile they brought in, regardless of imperfections.  And then they seemed to take the ones with the ugliest imperfections to put in the most prominent place in my kitchen.  They first lay the tile in my entryway.  After I examined their work on the first day, I knew that it would be a disaster.  I told the contractor that he needed to find a new tile guy.  The next day the same guys showed up.  I told them to leave.  They ignored me, so I got in their face and told them that they were not welcome in my house.  They exited to the garage and called Jerry, who came over immediately and assured me that they would be able to do better.  They completed the job, complaining the entire time.  They did NOT seal the floor. They didn't even properly seal the grout.  So, when I washed it I ended up with grout stains on the tile.  I hated it.  When I told Jerry, he made excuses about how hard it is to lay this tile.  Well, that is why I asked him about it in our very first conversation! initial visit!   I get angry all over again every time I wash the floor.  I hate the job they did, including the six week job that turned into a three month job.  Including my telling Jerry that I had to have two weeks notice of their start date, which he ignored.  Instead he called the day after New Years and wanted to start THE NEXT DAY.  I think he was embarrassed about the whole the whole job.  He never took pictures or asked for my recommendation.
