Subject: Get a second opinion
My husband and I had a leak in our master bedroom. After having our roof patched twice (by a different company), we decided it might be time to replace the roof. Therefore, we called Done Right Roofing to assess the issue and provide a quote. I personally showed John the area that was leaking and emphasized it was why we were considering replacing the roof. Of course, the roof was not “bad enough” for insurance to cover a replacement; therefore, we paid the full price. Two weeks after the replacement, water started leaking in the same spot. When John came over to investigate, he went into the attic; he had not done this prior to replacing the roof. Based on what he saw in the attic, he determined that the roof was not and had not been leaking. He determined that the source of the leak was plumbing.
John is very personable and we are pleased with the new roof. However, we certainly would not have replaced it when we did had we known that the leak was not a result of the roof. In retrospect, I wish we had been better informed and had asked more questions prior to agreeing to a replacement. Ultimately, I wish that John had investigated the leak more thoroughly before recommending that we replace the roof. Unfortunately, when I identified that we had prematurely replaced a roof to address the leak, John’s only response was “it would have needed to be replaced in a couple of years anyway.”
