I recommend NOT using this hospital! Recently went to the emergency room due to a miscarriage causing me to lose too much blood. I was in and out of consciousness and my husband was scared and took me to the Unionville ER. He pulled up under the awning and RAN inside to get help to get me inside. He came running back out while the nurse followed slowly behind with a wheelchair, absolutely no hurrying whatsoever. She did no helping of getting me into the wheelchair and took her time wheeling me inside. My husband went and parked the car and came back inside only to see they still did not have me in an exam room. Once they finally moved me to an exam room they made him stay in the waiting area to do paperwork instead of allowing him to come back there and do it. My husband said I had and was losing so much blood that I was as white as a sheet. Instead of starting an IV or getting vitals, they had me get on the bed by myself and ask if I was a smoker, drug user, etc. I kept asking for my husband and telling me them I was in pain and had blood gushing out of me, and my body shaking uncontrollably. They did not let my husband come back for another 15 minutes. The only things they got accomplished in this time frame was get my vitals (which were running very low) and drew some blood to check my levels. (The lady from the lab was the only person thay showed any type of compassion). She pointed out several times to the nurse how cold my hands were and put warm blankets on me, after the nurse did nothing. After being there after 30 minutes they put an IV in. The nurse was HORRIBLE! She should not be allowed to work with people in general, let alone Healthcare. I was finally given some pain medicine about an hour of being there. The doctor finally showed up (Dr. Casady) who said my levels were a "little low" (my levels should have been 11 and they were at a 6) and that this was common with miscarriages. Not a single person working there looked me over, even though I came in with blood running down my legs. My husband had finally had enough of the poor excuse of this "doctor" and "nurse" and demanded I be moved to my OB doctor immediately. The doctor kept trying to get out of moving me and saying that "it would take too long", "they would have to call my Dr and see if they could take me", etc. My husband said he would call my Dr personally and that it would be no problem for me to me moved there. After that, the dr said he would have the nurse call. Less than 5 minutes later they came in and said my dr said to get me there immediately and they would be waiting. Dr Cassady then came and stood over me and asked what I wanted to do, thankfully, my husband was standing there and told him that we just said what we wanted done. Dr Casady said it would be awhile because they would have to get paperwork done and call for the ambulance and then left the room. The nurse came back in about 15 minutes later and my husband asked how much longer before the ambulance would be there, all she said was that it was a process and walked out. The ambulance finally showed up (I am sure they would have been there sooner if the hospital had any type or urgency or let them know it was indeed an emergency). The EMTs came in quickly and saw the bed and blankets were covered in blood and asked when the last time the pad had been changed, my husband looked directly at the nurse and said they had not even looked me over, let alone change the pad once. They looked at her and said with my levels being that low they should have kept track of how many pads I was soaking through. Imagine no one working in the hospital had a word to say. They put me in the ambulance and instantly put a machine to watch my heart, the blood pressure cuff, and oxygen on me. (I received better care in the ambulance than the Unionville Hospital). The awaiting hospital had multiple nurses & Dr's ok standby and I was taken into surgery in less than 20 minutes. My dr said I had lost too much blood and was lucky. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!! They will kill you not help you!
