This review, along with the other 1-star review left by STL MO is most definitely in regards to the residential side, not the gym owner. We lived at Sanctuary Lofts in it's first year being open. Hopefully it's improved since then. One of our cars was hit with the very first break-in occurrence, and at that point the only thing that was done was putting signs up that said there was surveillance (they were unable to be seen in the dark anyways). There was already "surveillance" before, but it didn't help with catching anybody. Aside from that, we were told the residents could vote to pay for a fence by adding to their rent, or just know that car break-ins happen sometimes. Actually, I specifically remember the property manager (Adam) telling us fences don't stop burglars anyways... Maybe there's a fence now, I hope there is for the new tenants sake because there were a few more strings of break-ins before we left. Oh, and once a homeless man was able to wander inside the "secured" building, and then inside a female tenants' apartment (she wasn't there at the time). No harm was done but it's extremely scary. And, if it weren't for tenants talking to each other then we'd have no clue about that incident or even the car break-ins. But moving on, only one tenant out of the whole building renewed their lease & stayed after the 1st year. Although they may have improved since 2019, I would still be cautious. Many of the tenants were lied to with various promises of what was going to be done to the property upon signing our leases - these were all different things, none of them deal-breakers in signing a lease but just petty little lies that never happened (it was newly renovated, so it was easy to believe they just weren't finished with everything). This was the coolest looking apartment we've stayed at, and unfortunately the most poorly managed. From overflowing trash cans, dog poop everywhere, lack of snow/ice removal on walkways, etc. We always said how it was fortunate that everything was new here, because if there were ever any serious issues in the unit I'm not sure they would care, or if things would ever be fixed. The icing on the cake is that after a lot of BS at this place, they wanted to raise our rent after our first year, which would be easier to digest if they property manager hadn't literally told us they wouldn't be raising rent. Then of course after we move out we see the unit listed for less than what we were paying, ha. Maybe people are just nicer than us in not leaving more negative reviews here, maybe they didn't think it was too bad, or maybe it's because we were somewhat "paid off" in receiving more than just our security deposit back after leaving. Either way, I wanted to share my true experience and hope this helps future potential renters. Yes it has pretty finishes & is in a good location (other than safety), but be cautious.
