DO NOT RENT HERE. corporate greed, black mold, flooding, bug infestations, lack of safety, scammy renter's insurance, and more, all at a premium price. woodwardlofts is managed by worcester communities, and their greed and negligence has caused literal hazardous living conditions here. i was holding off on leaving a review to see if they would do anything for the residents whose units units flooded, but its clear that they couldnt care less. in most units, there aren't even real doors for the bedrooms or bathrooms, and no windows in the bedrooms (so i'm not sure how they are legally able to call these bedrooms). including parking and fees, it's almost $1700 a month for our one-bedroom. yes, the apartments are beautiful when you tour them, but living here has become a nightmare. FLOODING: a pipe exploded on the first floor in the middle of the night and flooded nearly 20 units, most likely due to their refusal to actually fix problems. we're still paying full price to live in a construction zone, and management is refusing to move us to a habitable unit without raising our rent. there are literally holes in the walls that they only taped over after i complained. aside from this incident, the first floor floods on a regular basis and nothing is ever done about it. BLACK MOLD, BUG INFESTATIONS:there is a horrible fruit fly infestation that they refuse to address beyond putting a fan in the trash room, which does nothing, and it's truly unbearable in thesummer. black mold grows on the walls and they told me "that just happens in these units, you have to clean that yourself." SCAMMY INSURANCE: apparently now, when you are a new resident signing a lease at WL, they force you to buy their renter's insurance, which will not actually cover anything when you need them to. UNSAFE PARKING: over half of the parking lot in the front is devoted to the businesses that operate out of the building, so residents cannot park there most of the day. car break-ins happen weekly. you could park in the gated surface lot, but car break-ins happen frequently there, too. garage parking is $150 a month for the garage door to be broken 4 or 5 times a year and it takes months to fix it. INTERNET AND WATER COSTS: you cannot opt out of the $75 internet package for sharedinternet, and spectrum never knows what you're talking about when you call for help. the cost for water used to be a flat rate, but now they divide the cost of the water in the building amongst all of the residents, so even if you try to cut down on your water usage, it doesn't matter. INCOMPETENT MANAGEMENT: management is a revolving door. some property managers don't even last 2 months, the current regional manager is useless. no one ever knows what's going on and no one is interested in helping you whatsoever, so it's pointless to try and reason with them. they barely even communicate to the residents what is going on. i will say that Walter and the current maintenance guys (what few of them are left) are doing their best and are trulygood people, but they can't do much with management the way that it is. i have not spokento a single other resident who likes living here, that's probably why the turnover is so high. rent somewhere else. it's simply not worth it.
