image Highly recommend. They recently worked on the first phase of our bathroom remodel. And I couldnt be happier. The bid process was informative and the pricing was very competitive. The big name companies wanted to charge three to five times for the same service. They were patient of my timeline of when I did, and more importantly didnt want the project to occur. The crew was very friendly and communicated through the whole process. They were always on time and respectful to my home. Every construction project will have their hiccups. And ones we had were stress free to deal with. They were proactive to provide reasonable solutions and mindful of any costs that may be incurred. They will definitely be utilized to finish the other phases of our remodel and happy to work with a local company in Liberty.

image I scheduled a quote a week out for a room to be added on. The NIGHT before I was called with a ridiculous price 50k over 2 other bids, they had no clue what we were after. Just didn't want to waste "my time". Glad we didn't, this is clearly a contractor that is not going to lesson to what the customer wants.

image This is my 2nd time utilizing Gercken Construction. The first time was when covid first hit. Reviews were good, and he was good about follow up. We paid him our first deposit and all other installments, and he immediately cashed our checks the same day which was a little concerning for us as it made us question his business stability, but things seemed fine. Sometime after work was completed, I saw that my tile was completely cracked the width of the floor. We rarely use this bathroom, so it had been months since the tile had been laid. Richards tile guy said that the whole floor would have to come out and because my floor was heated that element would need replaced too. The tile I bought was a closeout tile and matched the shower tile so there was no way I was going to start this entire process over. I did ask Richard about this crack, and he said my 28-year-old house must have settled. No other tile that we had put in that bathroom had ever cracked but I took him at his word and lived with this. Then one day we had the basement carpet replaced and found out that the new bathtub they installed had been leaking since install. Our plumber stated that Gercken construction had not used the right drain for the tub, nor did they seal the drain at all. They pieced it together and closed everything up. This repair cost us 900 dollars and left us with a hole in the ceiling and the wall that I get to see every day because no one wants to come do a small repair job. Forward to 2022 we decided to remodel our primary bathroom, finally found someone we wanted to use but after a yearlong wait time we started looking again, after much hesitation decided to give Gercken another chance, why you ask? Because he was available, but I took this opportunity to point out their last mistakes once again and made clear what my expectations were on this project. Could things be worse? Yes. We knew to stay on top of things this time. We would come home each night to another problem, another fix. My unlevel floor was to be taken care of, I repeatedly asked Richard about it, and he said it was fine, we noticed the trim was off, contacted Richard who said my floor was slightly off- after telling me it was fine. He knew this was a huge issue for me and then blew it off. They could have fixed that before the tile was laid- uneven floor/ unlevel bathtub, if you lean on it, it moves up and down, so he wanted to glue it down to fix-No thanks. My shower door company said I had to have triple studs to mount their frameless doors. I told Richard this on 3 separate occasions, he kept telling me he would take care of that- he didnt, he said I didnt need it, said the boards will hold the door. I am paying him to do what I want/need, not what is convenient for him. Wrong trim installed 3 times, tried to reuse spare pieces of my old trim, they cracked pieces of trim on my vanity, the painted walls, trim, and shutters have overspray and runs on them. I wanted a beautiful library wall, and this is the mess I was left with. I broke down and paid a professional to fix and repaint that wall and now it looks like it should have looked. Richard cuts corners and uses cheap materials but charges you a fortune. He knows that most people do not see these things. I paid a premium price for this subpar work. One star for the performance he gives you to get your business, and he is more than happy to fix things over and over and over and over again. Personally, I was sick of them being in my home and the excess dust it would cause to fix the mess he left. When you look at the pictures on his website, keep in mind that what you are actually looking at is beautiful tile, new fixtures, bath/shower, and vanities that people purchased. This does not represent his work; this represents the nice things you bought, and he just had someone stick them where they belong. Who knows what lurks behind them.
